I liked this a lot more than I expected! I was sure how I felt about it at first, but I was really into the characters by the end of the book and I was kind of sad to see them go and close the cover. Bub and Lovage were a HILARIOUS duo, they ricocheted off each other so well and it made for some real-life smiles and puffs of air coming out my nose as a laugh.

I am a SLUT for mythology retellings and I will say that without shame.
This one though? Took some time to enjoy... The first few chapters felt pretty juvenile, almost; thought that fes like the wrong word, and such a harsh one as well. It felt like fanfic-y and young, which probably makes for a good starter into retellings for younger audiences, but it fell a little flat at first for me.
However, there were some BEAUTIFUL lines. I found myself highlighting more than I suspected I would, to be honest - which just goes to show: don't judge a book by it's cover... The age old saying haha.
Overall, it was a cute little short story, but it definitely is not my favourite retelling. It's a good short and easy read to help get out of a reading slump, I suppose!

Felt like a mix between the tale of Tantalus, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and a children's fairytale lol

I LOVED this collection; apart from Ligeia... I didn't like was Ligeia. But the rest were so so good. Dark, weird, and thought-provoking. Will probably read again and would definitely recommend it
