It was pretty obvious that all of the “rules” the main character had to follow were just to make the book longer. It dragged on way too long.

The first half was really slow and honestly I was bored. But once the tournament actually started it was super interesting. I fucking hate cliffhanger-endings but it made me want to read the second book.

It feels wrong to criticize a book someone wrote about their life, like how would a critic someone’s life. I do think I written wonderfully. It doesn’t try to tone down the horrors of WWII.
