The Book of Cars and Trucks by Neil Clark
4.0
The Book of Cars and Trucks is a colourful and educational book that teaches children about the mechanics of vehicles. I loved how colourful the drawings were without being bright and obnoxious. The writing is simple and easy to understand, putting the basics in without going on and on and becoming confusing. The questions at the end were wonderful, as they take a cute little book and turn it into a learning experience.
My sixteen month old son who loves all things that go vroom loved the pictures, this would be a great book for children to grow with.

C Jumped Over Three Pots and a Pan and Landed Smack in the Garbage Can by Pamela Jane

A cute little rhyming book about the alphabet and the fun and shenanigans they get into. A bit of spelling and describing the letter this book is educational and nice to look at.
Many Ways to Say I Love You: Wisdom for Parents and Children from Mister Rogers by Fred Rogers
5.0
This is a fantastic book! I was under the assumption it would be another good feels, positive, daily book, but I was very wrong.
We get a whole lot of humble advice from Mister Rogers and it is all valuable and useful. I have a teenage girl and a 16 month old boy, and I felt this advice was useful for both children.
We often forget as parents what it felt like to be children. We often forget that children will have big emotions just like adults.
I would recommend this book highly to parents to read to their children!

Frankie's Favorite Food by Kelsey Garrity-Riley
4.0
Frankie’s Favorite Food could easily be written about my son. This was a cute story about a creative boy named Frankie who loves all things food! Taking his passion for food to the stage he creates a wonderful play with his classmates.
The drawings were bright and eye catching and the story was fun and short. A positive food related story in a word of picky eaters!
I think I might Spa-get-ti this for my son to read!

The Cloud Lasso by Stephanie Schlaifer
3.0
The Cloud Lasso was a short story about a young girl named Delilah and her struggle through cloudy days when her Doo-Dad (grandfather) passed away. Grief is a very difficult journey for anyone, and it’s especially hard for children. I love how this story symbolizes grief by the clouds. The way Delilah uses the lasso (a connection to her Doo-Dad) to work through her sadness and find some happiness was really easy to follow.
I think this book would be helpful for children who have lost someone. The colors were a little subdued but I think that really drove home the idea that Delilah was in a sad place.

The Big Book of Twisted Fairy Tales: Stories about Kindness, Responsibility, Honesty, and Teamwork by Sue Nicholson
4.0
There is something about revamped fairy tales that I just adore. This simple to follow group of stories teaches kids about the values of kindness, responsibility, honesty and teamwork. Each story took a fairy tale character we love and gave them a new. challenge to work through. The images were really delightful and bright! I really thought having Griselda present throughout each story as a conscience figure was fantastic.
My First Book about Our Amazing Earth by Donald M. Silver, Patricia J. Wynne
5.0
This is a fantastic learning tool to teach children (and curious adults) all about the earths science. It’s a hands on learning experience with scientific information on each page.
I love this idea! I think children would be more perceptive to learning with a book like this. I always enjoyed the coloring pages in school, and to this day still remember some of them and the information on them.

The Trouble with Time Travel by Stephen W. Martin

This story was quite creative and fun. It was short, simple and easy follow once you read through it once. I got s good chuckle at how it came full circle (although I was frustrated when I first started reading at how abruptly we were thrown into the story).
Max and Boomer build a time machine to fix a priceless heirloom, and end up creating a problem for her Great (many tines) grandmother in the past. With a warning for an alternate timeline Max.
Beautifully illustrated and good for a carefree story.

Sergeant Billy: The True Story of the Goat Who Went to War by Mireille Messier
5.0
This was a fascinating story. Leave it up to Canadians to adopt a pet goat for the war. (I mean this as an absolutely loving compliment) the fact that the soldiers took Sergeant Billy from a farm in Saskatchewan to the front lines of WWI is very interesting.
It was really great how we got to learn a bit about the war in a kid friendly sort of way. Travelling from Canada, to the front lines and back again.
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who’s child is interested in history, or to introduce them to history.

Is a Worry Worrying You? by Ferida Wolff, Harriet May Savitz
4.0
Is a Worry Worrying You is a fantastic book about what a worry is and how to deal with it when it happens. Worries happen to us all and can feel like a cloud over our heads or a weight on our shoulders. I loved the absurdity of the worries in this story. Even as adults many of our worries will never become reality and it’s absurd to worry about them, and children’s worries are no different.
With colourful fun illustrations and simple language this book is a great tool to help children learn how to deal with their worries in a healthy way.
