3.5

I’m not sure how to start describing this book.

Firstly, it’s a Rapunzel retelling with some very dark elements. I do enjoy how well the author has represented addiction and then the comedown/after effects.

I did however leave the book with more questions than answers. I’m still not entirely sure who everyone is, what race of magical thing they are (fae, werewolf, vampire, all of the above, who knows cos it certainly isn’t me!).

There seems to be numerous plot points that aren’t just cliffhangers, the entire *cliff* is missing.

However, I loved the vibes and it certainly has promise, so even after all that will I read book 2? Yes absolutely, I need me the answers I seek!
A Brief History of Black Holes: And Why Nearly Everything You Know About Them Is Wrong by Becky Smethurst

I find black holes just so endlessly fascinating (and honestly, a little bit terrifying??).

Becky manages to break down the complex mathematics, physics and everything else that makes a Black Hole a Black Hole into an easily digestible book.

There might be a smidge too many pop culture references, but honestly, sometimes a tough subject needs a bit of lightheartedness!

A retelling I didn’t know I wanted, but here I am devouring it in under 24 hours.

The plot was followed well enough to be suitable to be called a retelling, there was some delightful smut and I never dislike an RH.

Perfect for anyone wanting a quick, enjoyable read.

Absolutely 100% unhinged behaviour throughout this book.

Yet I still absolutely inhaled it

Am I unhinged? Probably.

Everything about this book was completely unhinged, yet I still read it? Not sure what that says about me, but hey onto book 2!

I don’t even know how to write a review on this, other than I absolutely inhaled every page, to the point where I refused to sleep until I had finished it (work the next day was rough).

Just, no notes, 5 million stars, the end.

Not one, but two disabilities shown in an extreme positive light in one story, a very grumpy MMC, he falls first and some hella spicy scenes made this very, very easy to read in just a few hours!

Making a note for November for book 3!

This book had me giggling and swinging my feet, I LOVE L&L together.

The plot wasn’t quite as strong as B&B, but the romance and the spice was on equal par. Particularly that epilogue scene, whewww!

The author has a delightfully wicked sense of humour and writing style which I absolutely love, I know book 3 is going to be JUST as good and I’m already looking forward to its release.

Did I expect to enjoy dark, serial killer vs serial killer book with accidental cannibalism? Absolutely not.

But here we are, as a 5 star read.

I did not pick this book up expecting a literary masterpiece, but what I did get was a thoroughly enjoyable read which picked me up right out of a slump!

I was very unsure of how there was to be a plot between a merman and a human, but I am impressed with how this author has brought together the two worlds via the humans destroying the ocean as they have already destroyed the land and have no where else to go.

Also, the preface of this book is genuinely one of my favourites I’ve ever read.
