a bit of a slower burn scifi horror. probably wont be for everyone, but I liked it a lot.

a decent concept but I didn't care for the execution. found the writing to be all over the place leading to being confused as to where characters were, their ages, or in general what was even happening. probably more a me problem than anything else, but I didnt care for it.

cw: medical content & trauma, blood, injuries, death, medical malpractice, gaslighting, surgeries & plenty of graphic medical descriptions. probably exactly what you'd expect, but still, be cautious!
this was fascinating, written in a fun & easy to get into way. very interesting to see how the medical/health industry has changed and stayed the same over the course of centuries.

very short, detailed, pretty good! so here for queer myth retellings, especially those with a more horror-esque bend. will be reading the followup and more from this author in the future.

how was this so much fun? i laughed so much and absolutely loved each character in their own ways including their interactions with each other.
also yay for trans & queer characters! you don't get the exact info about charlie, but so many of the rest of the characters are diverse & you love to see it. 🩷
