More adventure, more secrets, and more spice...

Enemies to lovers, forced proximity & found family..

I devoured this second book!!

It follows Morgan after the events of Queen of Roses, where she wakes up in a new, dangerous court. Secrets are soon revealed, and she finds herself forced to play a part in a risky game, all while not knowing who she can and can not trust...

I really enjoyed where this instalment takes you - far away from Camelot, in an underground court,  where you get to know more about Morgan & Draven, as well as meeting a whole host of new characters.

As with the first book, this one didn't always go the way that I thought it would. It kept me guessing and definitely took me by surprise in some places!

I'm so excited to dive straight into the third book!

Last month, I joined the official Agatha Christie reading challenge #readchristie2024 as I realised, like many others, I have watched shows based on her stories, but have never actually read any of her books!

I picked the official challenge book for January, her very first detective novel, and the one that introduces the now infamous Hercule Poirot.

This novel is now 103 years old, which made for a very different read that I'm used to!

The story is told from the point of view of Hastings, an old friend of Poirot, who finds himself staying at Styles, the home of Emily Inglethorp. When she is discovered dead and believed poisoned, an investigation begins, with suspects including her new, younger husband & stepsons. Hastings calls in his friend Poirot, who is living nearby, who uses his unique skills to help the family find out the truth.

I found this to be an easy read, with a clever plot that takes you back to wartime Britain. It's a good murder mystery that keeps you guessing all the way through. I also liked that maps & room plans were scattered throughout to support the story, drawing you into the investigation.

Certainly not the thrilling read that I'm used to, but  nonetheless, it was a nice one to have in between my bigger reads.

Fantasy is not a genre I normally read, but this book has made me a firm fan - my only complaint being that it's left me wanting more & I am incredibly impatient!

The way in which the author writes had me hooked from the very first paragraph...

Alongside the magical surroundings & creatures (dragons included) that are conjured up in your mind whilst reading, there is a FMC that intrigues you from the start. Raeve is badass & rebellious, with first class banter & I instantly loved her.

Not forgetting the MMC, Kaan - strong & fierce, with a huge heart & loyalty that makes you swoon!

An epic story full of intrigue, revenge & a slow burning, star crossed romance - I honestly couldn't put it down!

*There are some TWs to look out for, listed at the start of the book, so check them out before reading!*
