Raiders of the Lost Heart by @josegurabooks is an adventurous and sexy romp through the jungle!!! 🥵
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Right off the bat, I knew I would enjoy this book!!! Socorro is such a bada** archaeologist, who doesn’t take no s*** from no one. Plus, her bold sexiness is so empowering to me! 😍
Dr. Ford Matthews is such an a**hole at times, but he genuinely begins caring about/loving Socorro near the middle of the book. I love that he is named after Harrison Ford too, which makes my little heart happy! 🥰
The book is super fast-paced and action-packed, with a whole lot of sexual tension and enemies-to-lovers. There was plenty of banter between Socorro and Ford, which was both hot and hilarious! All in all, Raiders of the Lost Heart is a fun read that provides a perfect escape from the real world. The story also dives into a greater exploration of love, forgiveness, and mysterious circumstances. 🌴🗺️ 💕

Here in Avalon by @notoriousdrtib is an intriguing story about family ties and dazzling yet cultish (?) cabarets! 🎭
🌟🌟🌟🌟
The positives: I loved the character developments of Rose and Cecilia! They were both complex characters that had a lot of baggage. However, their relationship somewhat improves. But, honestly, all of the characters were a little bit toxic in a way. The concept of “Avalon” is very amazing as well and the eccentric cast of characters are intricate! 🤩
I really wanted to enjoy Here In Avalon because the premise is fascinating! However, the writing was sometimes confusing. And the plot lines are often hard to follow.
All in all, Here In Avalon was a good book and I encourage everyone to create their own opinions about it. 😊✍🏼👯♀️✨
Thank you to @netgalley and @simonbooks for the opportunity to read/review this ARC! 📚

Mercury: A Novel by Amy Jo Burns
Mercury by Amy Jo Burns had great potential, yet was not intriguing enough for me! 🫤
Release Date: January 2nd, 2023
Blurb: It’s 1990 and seventeen-year-old Marley West is blazing into the river valley town of Mercury, Pennsylvania. A perpetual loner, she seeks a place at someone’s table and a family of her own. The first thing she sees when she arrives in town is three men standing on a rooftop. Their silhouettes blot out the sun.
The Joseph brothers become Marley’s whole world before she can blink. Soon, she is young wife to one, The One Who Got Away to another, and adopted mother to them all. As their own mother fades away and their roofing business crumbles under the weight of their unwieldy father’s inflated ego, Marley steps in to shepherd these unruly men. Years later, an eerie discovery in the church attic causes old wounds to resurface and suddenly the family’s survival hangs in the balance. With Marley as their light, the Joseph brothers must decide whether they can save the family they’ve always known―or whether together they can build something stronger in its place.

DNF!!! 😢
I wasn’t able to finish Mercury because it was honestly not the right genre for me. I’m more into fantasy and romance, not family dramatic fiction. However, Burns’ writing was incredible yet kind of mundane.
I’ve heard amazing things about this book from many other bookstagrammers, and was super excited to receive a physical ARC. It was very disappointing when I discovered I wasn’t as interested in the story. Mercury may have captured the attention of the book world, however, it did not hold my attention for very long. 😅
I encourage you to make your own decisions about the novel, but just know this is my own personal opinion. And if you loved it, that’s great! 😁
Thank you to @celadonbooks for sending me a gifted ARC in exchange for a honest review! 😊📚
