Impact Winter season 2 by Travis Beacham is an Audible exclusive, all star cast story that is the continuation of a dark, adventurous, and suspenseful story in the setting of a dystopian world where humans are overtaken by vampires, and their fight to stay alive and quest to end the darkness taken. Over the world.
Just as the first part of this story, the music was a bit loud and overpowering. Sound effects are fine but shouldn’t replace describing the story since I can’t see what is happening. Typically an audio book reads everything happening so the reader can picture the scene. Just hearing noises having to wonder and assume what happened isn’t ideal. The story itself is interesting which is why the rating is decent.
The cliffhanger has me speechless. What the heck?! Thankfully the last part is available immediately so I don’t have to wait to find out how it ends.

A dystopian paranormal post apocalypse story that reminds me of the TV show Wayward Pines. A comet hit earth and blotted the sun turning the world into never ending winter. Perfect for the vampires to take over the world since they no longer need to hide from the sun.
This new world leaves humans in constant danger and they must seek refuge in safe places where the vampires cannot find them. There are 3 types of the blood suckers, including the most powerful that pass as human and the most dangerous. When one unknowingly lives close to the humans compound, the danger is real and takes one of their own.
I enjoyed the Audible all cast original. The downside for me was at some points the music used to add to the listening experience similar to a movie was a bit loud and distracting from the story rather than enhancing it. At times you didn’t quite know what was going on. When reading a book it’s more detailed with what is going on and the environment. This had less of that and rather that explaining the scenario, you heard breathing, random noises, and scuffling. It was the opposite of turning a book into a screenplay which doesn’t work as well when you cannot see what is going on. Otherwise the story is interesting and would make for a good show.
