I got this one out of the library, which was kind of a funny place to get it because it's something you're supposed to write in. I'd like this as a gift someday.

Aaah, Bandette. You darling little Robin Hood of Paris. The vintage artwork caught my eye, but the storyline kept my attention.

These readers were once the standard for literary education across the nation. Now they've gone by the wayside, but this collection has excellent morals and skills to impart, and I certainly enjoyed them as a child. I don't see why I couldn't use them to help home-school my own children. Our great-grandparents certainly weren't dopes.

OH my gosh this woman. I'm not sure whether to be appalled or applaud...maybe both? It's certainly a showing of the contrasting in child-rearing between the American and Chinese cultures. The Chinese culture in America has an analogue that I can see in the conservative Christian patriarchal movement. I don't ever want to be this extreme, but I do want to give my children a stricter upbringing than most children and many of my peers had. I think they'll thank me for it, as I thank my parents.

Hilarious skewering of your American lit course in high school. The point of the book is straight humor, as opposed to humorous education.

The backstory to the lady who authored several beautifully written and illustrated books on nature observed in the old-fashioned English country-side. This book is just as lovely to read as the subject's claims to fame are.

I grew up reading Rossetti poems in nearly all of my literature books in school. While I wouldn't just sit down and devour the entire compendium at one time, this is good poetry and easy to read and analyze.

Urban history has always fascinated me and this is one of the oldest and biggest urban areas on the planet. I remember one time walking down the street in our small town and Mom telling me "you hear that running water? There's a creek under there" and that blew my mind.

BahahahahahahA! All the superheros that didn't quite make it into the annals of comic fame. No Supermen or Wonder Women among these misfits.

Recipes and techniques to use. It ain't the Ball Blue Book, but it's pretty useful.
