This was so interesting and poignant. I loved the retelling of Frankenstein, I loved the novel and sci-fi portions of it, and I loved how it related to society today.

I don’t remember where I originally took this book recommendation from, only that I’ve had in on my radar forever and by the time I actually decided to pick it up I had no idea what it was about. I didn’t realize how many religious undertones there would be, which wasn’t what I was looking to get out of it. I also think it’s a little simplified for real life, but as long as some people are getting something positive from it I guess that’s all that matters.

What an end to the original series. I love these characters and Camp Half Blood so much ❤️

I think I want to like Ruth Ozeki’s work more than I end up actually doing so. The idea of this had so much potential and I enjoyed having the book narrator. What’s up with modern books throwing around the r-word in order to showcase bullying though? I hate it and it makes me hate the writing. We know better and authors have to do better. I have some other critiques on the language used to talk about the mom and Benny that just overall took me out of the story. Personally, I just wish the execution of an interesting plot would’ve been done a little better.

I love this series more and more every time I reread, so nothing less than a 5-star from me. However, this is probably my least favorite of the original five. Too little Annabeth and I’ve still never recovered from reading about Bianca’s death for the first time.
