The Chain by Adrian McKinty

I absolutely loved this concept! I feel like some bits were a little too dramatic hense the 4 instead of 5 (and also thriller is less my thing than fantasy) but the writing style and perspectives, concept and probably more Im blanking on, were PHENOMENAL!

Possible trigger warnings: suicide, talk of drug use, alcoholic parent, physical assault, emotional abuse, death, murder, outing a character's sexuality.
This book was honestly amazing and took me on so many twists and turns with character development and plot twists.
If the ending led onto the second book more then I feel I would have felt more suspense and an urge to pick it up, which I definitely will but yeh... And also, I feel the topic of mental illness and sexuality could have been dealt with in a slightly different way, but I understand for the most part why the author has chosen to write it the way they did.
I would slightly caution those who are LGBTQ+ and or Mentally ill, but I would still highly recommend it if you are in a good headspace right now.
This has really helped me get into reading, big props to the Author.

TW for Suicide, abuse, near-death experiences, violence... I think that's it.
It was a truly amazing book, but I can appreciate some of its flaws. I don't really know what else to say, kinda in shock lol.
There are things in this that I prefer compared to the film, but also there are some things that the film did that I wish were in the book.
Highly recommend.

More like a 3.5. It was a fun and entertaining read, but after about 3/4 of the book, I just got tired of not knowing, and the ending wasn't too much of a shock, although it wasn't my first guess.
The format of a book within a book is really interesting to read actually, it added a real sense of mystery, the two mirrored but equally different storylines. Its very interesting coparing the two and drawig conclusis from that.

I don't know what else to say apart fro phenomenal. The last chapter was definitely a curveball I didn't see coming but it was still interesting. This book has had me hooked completely and is most of what I've been thinking about the past few days. Amazing!
