um this thing is super repetitive with its words and symbols but it all builds to a certain dream-like quality that’s important for the story it’s telling. I enjoyed it a lot, super fucked up
told my friend about how Aubrey drops everything to go sightseeing with a vampiric stranger and she said she would do the same thing. she is so silly and so going to get murdered. anyways vampyre deserves respect for being. u know. the first. but beyond that it’s a super enjoyable story! the context of the writing competition that took place for this to be made is interesting, too.
Sandman is such a wonderful comic series but this volume in particular is just amazing. I read it through my library last yr and immediately went and bought a copy of my own, it’s just fantastic!!
ahaha I forgot I had this app anyway book sucked everything sucked (except for Chief)
this thing was sooo unbelievably racist and sexist it was like every other page the black characters were being called slurs & the women were written based off tit size
Honestly prefer this to No Longer Human. It feels like every line here is worthy of analysis, very stunning work!! I finished it a couple days ago and am still thinking about it.
Despite the homophobic and sexist intentions of the book, it’s become an iconic lesbian classic, and I hope the author is rolling in his grave. Carmilla bangs, but only if you can look past its original hateful intent I hated the ending though, the main character didn’t even do anything?? Another character showed up out of nowhere and ended the entire plot. I know he was mentioned in the beginning, but wow that makes for a really bad narrative
