The Shining by Stephen King
5.0
The shining has everything a great novel could need: interesting plot, action, tension, thrilling character development, ect, etc.. I purchased the audio version on audible and it was a long and dusty road (15 hours total) which was undoubtably a great use of my time. I delved right into the world of the overlook and wanted to speed through right on till the end just to find out what happens. It pulled at my heart strings, it filled me with anticipation and sheer terror.

I am subscribed to this site called 'Book Bub' where they give you free or discounted Ebooks on various websites. This was available on kobo, and having kobo I gave it a shot. I am ever so glad I did because what unfolded from then was brilliant.
This is about a 24 year old Rose, whose mother was a controlling religious fanatic who thought Rose had a demon within her. When in reality she had visions of ordinary things like broken taps or a lost dog. But when one day she sees herself dead she is shook at her end, thus starting her independence from her mother.
This is what I entered the book with but oh my it spiralled out wonderfully. It didn't go where I was expecting it to go, but I'm glad it did. Yes some things may be far fetched towards the end, but it's a fiction book, aren't things meant to be fantastical and impossible?
I (somehow) managed to read this in one sitting because it gripped me from the very beginning.
10/10 would definitely recommend

Beautiful Demons by Sarra Cannon

This was brilliant.
Harper has always had trouble staying in one foster home longer than 6 months, but when her current home kicks her out her social services career sends her to a home called Shadowford. Here she immediately gets a sense of impending doom and an overall 'magical' vibe.
At the end of it, many of my questions aren't answered but the twist was wow, as well as making me feel quite tense at a particular scene. I'm anxious to read the next one! Bring it on!

This is a perfect sequel to the first book! I found it generally more interesting than the first but that might just be me, because I love rushing to all the action and answers - the hardships of an impatient bookworm!
In this volume is follows Harper after her initiation into the cheer leading squad, which then answers many questions about Peachville, magic and The Order/ The Others
Personally I'm reading all three as one because of my Ebook so I love it as just one big book because it doesn't keep me waiting!

This is one of the books that you can't put down, because I couldn't. It's not like I HAD to finish it, because I didn't feel like I needed to know what happened. I finished it because I wanted to be back in the world, I felt no desire to I just missed them. If that makes sense? With TFIOS I had to finish it because I had to find out what happened, but with this book I wanted to carry on.
Despite its short length it got a lot into it, I personally liked the writing style as it gets you into his way of thinking which immersed me. The whole plot was just so intricate, I wished it was longer but then again it would ruin it if it carried on meaningless. Ill just have to watch the film.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

This took me a while to read, not because of its contents but of the lack of time I had.
Some parts may have been long and tedious for my taste, as I'm often inpatient, however others were lovely!
Im a big sucker for romance and Eliza and Darcy are just as sweet as tea, then again Jane and Bingely are as well. The choices the choices!
The characters were brilliant, ranging from the passive mr Bennett to the high strung ad theatrical mrs Bennett, to the pride and prejudice, it was an excellent read.

This so far has been my favourite classic yet, it had a good pace story which I know because of various retellings but I had more to it. It created depth that the shows and movies couldn't, gave them full emotions that I loved about it! And the language used was easy to understand unlike HG Wells or Bram Stoker.
I loved it because its Peter Pan and how could you not
