The atmosphere of this book was everything! I absolutely adore V.E. Schwab’s writing, and Gallant was no exception. Honestly, this book isn’t my new favorite or anything. I did like the characters, but I didn’t completely love them. But I don’t think I’ve read a book with such a great atmosphere. It had gothic vibes for sure. With such a haunting setting. At times this felt a bit like a horror novel. I did end up rating this five stars, it had me hooked while I was reading. I would recommend it. Although I don’t think it’ll be for everybody.

I’m so happy this book was new adult instead of young adult. That’s exactly what this dark story needed. And I absolutely LOVED it. Ahh I can’t wait for Kingdom of the Feared.

I actually really liked this book! I devoured it in less than 24 hours. It was a little far fetched, but honestly I had such a fun time. The book kept me gripped and I really enjoyed two of our main characters. I just wish there would have been a few more hidden clues to who the murderer was. This was also a lot gorier than I anticipated for a YA thriller.
