I quite enjoyed this book. I may have even liked it better than the first. Although it took me forever to read because I’ve been in a reading slump. I actually devoured a little bit more than the second half in one evening. This series gives me a bit of Wayward Children vibes.
This book still doesn’t add anything to Middlegame though.

This was pretty awful…
First the artwork was pretty weird. Their faces (especially Tate’s) were kind of creepy. The artwork doesn’t even remotely resemble the cover. That aside, the plot was confusing. Or more so it felt like 1/2 the book was left out. I had to keep checking the page number to make sure my copy wasn’t missing any pages. And it wasn’t.
The only thing I found kind of cool about this graphic novel was the fact that some of it takes place in Oregon. Which is where I live.
I would definitely skip this one. There are so many other graphic novels out there that are so much better. This one just felt so incomplete.

Did reading this add anything to Middlegame? No. But it was fun nonetheless. As always I love Seanan McGuire’s writing. This book gave me major Wayward Children vibes honestly. Which in my opinion isn’t a bad thing. Overall I thought it was pretty good.

Why did I actually really like this? I really enjoyed Beau and Edythe. They were similar to Edward and Bella obviously. But I was able to differentiate them. They became completely different characters to me. And I really liked their dynamic. I also really enjoyed the alternate ending. It definitely answered a “what if” in Twilight. I actually kind of want more Beau and Edythe stories. Even though this kind of wrapped it up for them.
