I think I’m going to take a pause on this series because there’s something about even the “almost incest” EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STOPPED RIGHT AWAY AND NOTHING REALLY HAPPENED, it’s a personal no no for me
I’m going to start with the fact that I know the CCs aren’t peoples top fav, and personally I think SJMs best writing period, is ToG before she got the popular bug with ACOTAR.
I liked it but what I was looking for so desperately is the devastating and messy deaths we saw in CC1 and CC2, in my humble opinion, too many of our beloved heroes made it out alive. I think making Lidia a mother cheapened her character development, let alone letting both twins live by the end (YEAH I SAID IT). I want something to hurt. I want “light it up”.
I’m not 100% sure what the contracting is for a fourth book, considering there are 4 “houses”, but the underlying sub plot that this is all backstory lore to support the next nesta focused ACOTAR is not lost on me. I am delighted that they’re intertwined but I wanted the anguish in crescent city, not the waiting to see what the night court spits out across the galaxy (although I love any cameos from the Alaskan bull worm of ACOTAR)
Overall, liked it didn’t love it. Consumed it in two days. Still hoping or more impactful deaths from SJM but I’m afraid her popularity has scared her off from making moves like that.
found this at random and ended up high key loving it? Just going to keep chugging along here.. something about writing a stubborn FMC without making her super whiney, they nailed it here
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

First off, I FUCKIN LOVE ANN DENTON and I’m going to sit here in misery until February when the next book comes out because I am a FOOL and thought it was already out.
I REALLY wanted to love this book based on the summary and what I’ve seen, but for some reason it just didn’t do much for me. The dialogue was really disconnected, and a lot of lost details between the story.
