Love Out Loud: Building a Relationship and Family from Scratch by Terrell Joseph, Jarius Joseph

While I never quite understood why people want kids, it is genuinely so nice to see people who love them and fight for them like Terrell and Jarius did.  There was so much love and appreciation for them in this book and it was so heartwarming.

Being the representation you want to see is something I hold dear to my heart.  It is never something easy to do and I really appreciate how the author’s approached that topic.

Showing their story but also how difficult it was to get to there was written in such a lovely way.  It was heartfelt and real.

A recommendation I found on TikTok and an impulse buy from Thrift Books minutes later and I have zero regrets.  This was fucking amazing!!

Oh my god, I am as obsessed with this book as Nikolai is to Brandon.  The way this book had me kicking my feet and smiling like an idiot.  This book was literally so good.  It felt like reading a fan-fiction (in a good way) and even though I’m not a fan of first person point of view in spicy books this book is the exception.  10/10.

Nikolai was genuinely so hilarious.  I absolutely love him and his total lack of shame.  I laughed out loud so many times because of this bisexual bitch.

Brandon and Nikolai really balanced each other out and the more their relationship progressed the more this really showed.  While they did go back and forth a bit it was never anything too much.

The aesthetic and format of this book was so beautiful.  I loved the playlist that was included in the beginning as well.  Overall 1000/10 🙌

♡ Swimming
♡ Queer Sports Romance
♡ Wholesome Friendships

The anxiety rep in this felt personal.  And just having to exist or be perceived being too much was way too relatable.  Getting to see the difference between how the main character sees themself versus how their friends see them is done so well.

The friendships were written so nicely and while the plot wasn’t anything too dramatic it felt comforting like a slice of life kind of vibe.

For anyone who is a fan of All for the Game by Nora Sakavic I highly suggest this book.  It had all the queer sports romance you could ask for.

While this did have a quicker pace than I was expecting I really liked how things played out in this book.  The plot and characters balanced each other out nicely.

Dylan’s whole entire family were so adorable. The wholesome friendships, sense of family, and love for their passions, this book had so many cute moments.  It’s lighthearted but had its angsty moments here and there.

♡ Hidden Identities
♡ Spicy Queer Vampires

The characters and the atmosphere were amazing.  I loved the hidden identities so much, the reveal for them was good too!

Truly lovely.  The representation was quite nice to read.  It had all the queer vampire vibes as well and it did not disappoint.  Plus this is the spiciest book yet in the “Guides for Dating Vampires” and it was written really nicely.  Also with a t4t main couple it really made me happy to see that kind of rep.

I also liked getting to see some of the other characters from other books in this series make an appearance in this book.  It was so cool to see how the stories take place in the same world but all have different perspectives that add to a unique ambience with each book so far.

♡ Found Family
♡ Supernatural Elements
♡ Cowboys (Western Setting)

This book was cool.  A western cowboy setting with queer characters and supernatural elements, sign me up.  The plot, the setting, the characters, and the found family were all written so well!  The characters were all unique and I loved the queer rep between them.  The found family and bonds they made through the book was really nice to read.

The atmosphere was eerie and comforting at times.  There was so much action and conflict in such a small book but it all worked.  The pacing of everything was perfect.  There was a nice balance of magic and reality that really brought the horror moments to life.

♡ Slow Burn
♡ Found Family
♡ Sapphic Sci-fi

Sona and Eris were absolutely iconic and I love them so much.   I enjoyed this book so much.  The found family was everything and the writing in general was really amazing.  Every scene was set perfectly and the atmosphere described so well.

The duel point of view was done so beautifully.  Seeing the differences in personalities between Eris and Sona was kinda hilarious at times.  They had a bit of banter between them which was great and the flirting was lovely too.

Overall, it was so easily to fall into the world of this book, to love the characters and be there cheering them on.

♡ Camping Trip

This was so adorable and the humor was amazing!  I laughed so much at all the innuendos and jokes.  The banter between the main characters was so amusing.  Russ and Cal were a hilarious duo.  The care they had for their sons was written so wholesomely.

Not to mention the camping trip and how iconic it was.  I loved the only one tent trope, s’mores and of course, the getting caught skinny dipping—it was a memorable trip for sure.

♡ Great Non-Binary/Trans Rep

This is the kind of graphic novel that would be great for anyone wanting to learn more about being trans.  The author did a really great job with explaining things and making it into an enjoyable read.  There were so many moments that felt so relatable.

The art style of this was genuinely so amazing, I loved the color theme as well it.  This is the best memoir I’ve read.

This was such a cute book.  I loved the main characters they were amazing, the romance was a blow burn that started out with a funny meet cute.

There was great friendships, entertaining drama, sex work positivity, and a happy ending that pulled everything together really well.  I loved the wedding planning moments and steamy moments, not to mention the funnel cakes which I need to make now.
