Much more character-driven than previous entries and I think it does it a great justice - I do still think there are too many new characters being constantly introduced - but we managed to get a much richer time with the cast we know and love - the cliff-hanger ending is unforgivable though

Some nuggets of absolute gold tucked in between a lot of less applicable stuff - I also found the extended narrative that takes up the first third distracting and confusing rather than helpful

Definitely did a great job of creating an intense and foreboding atmosphere- the ending felt a little jarring with the shift in perspective - but overall still had a good time

Far be it from me to be too harsh a critic of Jane Austen - but boy this could have been like 150 pages shorter - it was fun though

Through a weird set of circumstances I got my hands on an ARC and I’m quite glad I did - it was a very solid debut novel by James Logan - there were maybe a few moments that could have used a bit more polish or experience, but I enjoyed it enough that I’m hooked for the rest of the series, and really what more could you ask for from a debut!

Fun little side romp - feels a little more episodic than some of the others in the series - but that’s not necessarily a bad thing

Bit of a slow burn, but the struggle of the characters was very compelling - I also really appreciated the bold choices the author made

Not bad - a little too male gazey for me personally - but besides that it was enjoyable
