I didn't really connect with any of the characters and information kept being repeated from one chapter to the next which I found really annoying. I have the next book in the series so I'll read it but if I don't particularly enjoy that one, I'll stop reading the series.

This novel was marketed as Firefly meets Becky Chambers and they were dead on. Its got the heart and violence of Firefly with the inclusivity and world building of Becky Chambers but a voice and style all Curtis' own.

I forced myself through this book only because I'd already bought the 3rd in the trilogy.
The last 50ish pages have some decent action, the rest is magical people talking to and avoiding each other. It was so dull. I think it's trying to be super deep and mystical but all of that went over my head.
I'll read the 3rd because I've got it but not for a long time!!
