I 100% gave that .5 purely for the chapter on palaeontology

I’m honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I was fully expecting for this to be okay and mostly forgettable like the other Riley Sager book I read.

I’m not really sure what did it for me with this book but I look forward to reading more of Riley Sager’s books although I don’t think I’ll enjoy them as much as I did this one.

That being said now that I think about it this reminded me a lot of how I felt when I read The Ghost of Graylock by Dan Poblocki which was a childhood favourite of mine that I’ve been meaning to re-read for quite some time.

I’m going to be honest and say that the entire time I kept thinking that this is the perfect book for those who like The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.

This was a good time and I definitely would recommend this book but I don’t know if I’ll continue with the series as I’m content with the idea of this being a standalone.

Went into this thinking it would mostly have to do with diving and being underwater which is things I crave. But, from what I understand after reading some reviews this series in a whole is only slightly about that. I’m disappointed and dropping the series.

I decided to pick this up on a whim from the library after believing for years that this wasn’t going to be for me. And boy was I wrong. Here I am hooked on yet another 40+ volume shōjo series.

To be honest I think I was judging this based on the art as I don’t think I’ve ever read or heard the synopsis for this series. I was pleasantly surprised I actually grew to enjoy the art and would absolutely recommend this series.

If this had been a series and not a oneshot I think this would have been great. But, there’s honestly nothing that I think will stick with me from this.
