Overall this is a good spooky story about demons with an unreliable MC. I found the in laws to be useless and annoying. But overall this gives the essence of Poltergeist.

Best of the series thus far. It’s a complicated story about the shame pressed upon us by our families at a young age and how we can overcome that and be the best versions of ourselves.

It examines the Dom/sub relationship from a beginner perspective.

The characters are flawed and lovable and there are some tense moments.

This didn’t have much action in it despite having multiple ghosts haunting the house.

The MC keeps saying she doesn’t want to be a ghost for the rest of her life but if she’s a ghost she’s dead so there’s no rest of life to have.  That was annoying.

I think the author writes young boys better than he does young girls. I tend to like those stories better.

MC Lori is the middle child. Her older sister is perfect in every way. Her little brother is the only boy.

She goes on a journey blaming her mediocrity on everyone but herself. She makes choices that affect everyone around her to fulfill her selfish desires.

She’s really an ugly person who will do whatever to get what she wants and skate away without repercussion.

This one was super cute.

A kid gets a magic set for Christmas but learns that it is imperative to read the manual before attempting any magic.

Love how the author uses the last chapter to introduce the next book in the series as well.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 11%.
I did not like this. Couldn’t do it. I remember my husband watching the movie and I didn’t like that either.

I’ll try again in the future. Or not.

Cute story about a brother/sister duo and their adventures in an alternate universe while visiting Mackinac Island.  Lots of magical characters in this hero story.

For Michigan peeps there are lots of little details about the island.

Jack Ketchum loves caves. Every book I’ve read of his has caves or cave people in it.

This is about 3 wild college kids coming to this small town for summer, meeting a local, and doing wild stuff all together.

Ending with a game of hide and seek in an abandoned house.

There is a lot of extraneous detail in here for such a short book and there is animal abuse. Not my favorite by far.

This is a case of the epilogue doin too much and ruining the story. I really liked this up until that point.

Themes of love, bigotry, homophobia, relationships.

MC has a difficult time accepting himself and who he is. Strains in relationships permeate this book. Most problems could be settled with open, honest, communication.

I could live forever and be ok with never hearing about “leaking” body parts again.

Book 2.

This one was focused on mental health, voyeurism, and family relationships.

Overall not a bad story but not as good as the first in the series.

Trigger warnings:
MC Garrett has had no medical support while dealing with his depression and MC Mia has issues related to her body, namely the author focuses on the fact that she’s not skinny, or she has curves, or she has a round belly.
