The Deading by Nicholas Belardes

Did not finish book. Stopped at 56%.
I got a review copy of this book from NetGalley. I thought that the premise was good enough for a read. I unfortunately couldn't finish reading it due to the following reasons:
1. Too much time spent explaining about the different bird species, felt like an ornithology book.
2. The time it took for the actual story to begin was too long.
It just got too boring and I was just dragging myself far too long to finish it. Time is short, so I'll focus on more interesting books.

Apt narration with a voice full of beautiful intonation and a constant pace. Though the story is rather short, it is widely known and recounted. I liked the version on the Audrey app the best.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this thrilling novel.

It's written meticulously and was surely a page turner.
The story of how a simple girl, given the terrible situations she and her family faces, deceit after deceit, leads her into becoming a remorseless cannibalistic serial killer.
The ending was perfect and tied everything up nicely together.

All of the men she encountered in her life were nothing but a disappointment and her mother's helplessness made her feel that she has to be the hunter and not the prey. The descriptions of the act of cannibalism made my stomach churn, that's a testament to how detailed it was.
In the end, George got what he deserved and Geoffrey was entangled into this mess.

All the characters were written with much thought and I could envision them clearly. The story was paced well with short chapters. Overall, one of the best thrillers I have read so far.

We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

This was my first time reading a book by this author. I'm so glad that I got to read it. Whenever a person says that he/she is a feminist, they are automatically treated as an antisocial person just because those people are incapable of understanding the meaning of the word. To all those people who try to suppress women, their right to a dignified life, this book will definitely make them question about their actions. This isn't a gender war, it's a simple fact about treating women fairly.

Just finished reading Nick Bantock's The Corset & The Jellyfish. It's quite a short read comprising of 100 very peculiar and kind of mysterious drabbles. I liked the way it was presented with equally intriguing pictographs alongwith each drabble though many times, the pictures didn't match up with the story.

Some of my favourite ones were:
1. Permission
2. Shiva's Fire
3. The Deeds
4. Germ Warfare

Overall, it was an interesting read. I will certainly look forward to reading more from the author in the future. I would also like to thank Storygraph for giving me the opportunity to enter the giveaway for this gem of a book. Thank you to Tachyon Publications for this wonderful experience.

Beautifully written novel. I couldn't put it down. I'm glad I got to read it and now I'm awaiting the second book "Ruthless Vows" in the series. I highly recommend this novel.

Finally finished reading all three books in the 1Q84 series. Phew! What a literary journey it was. I would now like to give my honest review for this series.

All the characters in the book were described down to their minute details which helped me to create a mental persona of them. So, kudos for that. Each character was written in such a way that there was something to respect as well as loathe about them.

The books tried to maintain a constant pace for the story but I truly feel that the book could have been shortened to two books instead of three. There were a fair amount of excessive drawn out chapters.

The ending felt a bit unsatisfying. There were many questions that were left unanswered. I like a book that ties all the loose ends together but this one felt incomplete.

In short, unnecessarily lengthy but a good story, memorable characters which had their good and bad sides, fairly okay chapter spacing with an unsatisfactory ending. So, I think those 4.0/5 stars are justified.

I would very much like to read other books from Murakami san but hopefully they aren't this lengthy! I enjoyed reading it :)
