Y’all I absolutely loved this heart wrenching yet horrific story by @kelleyarmstrongauthor. I finished this audiobook in one day because I just did not want to put it down.
I’ll Be Waiting explores the lengths that people go to due to grief, including seances. The main character, Nicola, never expected to live well in to her 30s, let alone to be left a widow. Nicola has cystic fibrosis. She and her husband always planned their future based on her health timeline. Then her husband is killed in an accident and Nicola is left grieving. This results in her hiring mediums to try to communicate with her husband. Most are phony, however, this last one may just be the real deal.
I highly recommend adding this book to your October TBR list. It’s equally heartbreaking and scary.
Thank you @macmillan.audio for allowing me to listen to this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This Nordic Noir novel by @ragnarjo is a good one. I really enjoyed reading this murder mystery that starts with a murder in 1983 and goes back and forth between that time point and 2012.
I recommend this book if you enjoy:
🔪 dual timelines
🔪 multiple POVs
🔪 unreliable narrators
🔪 twisty mysteries
🔪 unexpected endings

The Trap is another fast paced spy thriller in the Alias Emma series. It grabbed my attention in the first chapter and was an action packed ride through Edinburgh. I am a big fan of Emma Makepeace and loved her most recent case, as well as her character growth over the three books in this series. I’m already looking forward to her next adventure!

This historical fiction novel by @silviamg.author was fantastic! Set in Hollywood’s golden age of the 1950s, the author not only captured the time period, but also created characters that jumped off the page. I loved the main character, Vera and her character growth in the story. Nancy is the perfect villain and foil to Vera. Woven in between the stories of these two characters is the story of Salome who is referenced more in biblical art than the Bible itself. The weaving of these three characters and their stories was intriguing and made for a fascinating read.

If you believe that spooky is a year round state of mind, then this short story collection is for you! The stories in this book are all set in the winter time frame, so many of the stories have Christmas elements or include snow and ice. Like all short story collections, there were ones that I loved more than some of the others; however, I overall felt like this was a strong collection of horror stories that covered a wide range of themes and horror sub-genres.
I recommend adding this to your spooky season (or beyond) TBR list!
