The Best Lies by David Ellis

Did not finish book. Stopped at 60%.
I enjoyed this author’s previous novel, Look Closer. Unfortunately, I just did not care about the characters or the storyline. I put this aside to read another book, but when I went to pick it back up at the 60% mark, I realized that I just did not care about what happens in the last 40% of the story.

Blood Like Mine combines the genres of crime fiction and horror to put together an interesting story of the FBI’s pursuit of a serial killer and a mother’s unconditional love.

This audiobook is perfect for spooky season and has just enough police procedural to make it seem believable which kicks up the creepy scale on this one.

I loved the novella, Ghost Camera, and the rest of the scary short stories published with it 🖤 This is perfect for upcoming spooky season or whenever you are in the mood for a creepy story or two. This full book can be read in a day or a short story at a time. I read Ghost Camera in one day and then spaced out the other stories out over a week because I loved the scary vibes!

I love a vacation gone wrong story and Ladykiller is just that. The book is set in Greece and Sweden, so beautiful places that everyone wants to visit. Unfortunately, Gia goes missing and her BFF, Abby and brother, Benny try to find out what happened to her. They find a manuscript that Gia was writing that leaves dark clues that hint Gia may be in harm’s way.

If you love stories about complicated relationships told from different POVs and one being an unreliable narrator, then I highly recommend this book!

Set in a small North Carolina town, Every Moment Since, explores how a missing boy of 10 affects his family, their neighbors, and the rest of the community. The mystery surrounding his disappearance has a ripple effect on the community and forever changes relationships. The story is told from different POVs and dual timelines. It’s a character driven, emotional mystery that is well written. The audiobook is really brought alive by a cast of narrators.

I highly recommend adding this book to your fall reading lists. This was the first book I have read by @marybethwhalen but I’m now adding her other books to my TBR list.
