This was a refreshing change to the usual small town romances I’m used to reading. I say that because Brynn isn’t going to a town she doesn’t know, she’s going home, whereas Sebastian isn’t the guy who’s always lived there, he moved there and it just stuck.

It was a great palette cleanser but also touched on hard hitting subject like childhood trauma and mental health, with the representation of the latter being subtle yet well done.

The romance element did come out of nowhere a little and I would have liked to see a little more build up to that with stolen moments, though overall it was enjoyable.

I would love to see this with both a male and female narrator as the octave drop was slightly distracting to begin with, but something I did manage to get through in the end. I would recommend this as a great autumn/winter romance read with the cold weather in the book giving off cosy vibes.

Thank you Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Audio as well as NetGalley for the ARC!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
Soft DNF at 15%. What I did read of this I did enjoy, however the magic system was really difficult for me to get my head around.

Though this is a stand alone, I think reading the series that this is linked to would have helped this make more sense which is why this as a soft DNF because I think I would really enjoy it!

Thank you NetGalley and entangled publishing for the ARC

Whenever I picked this up it was ✨impossible✨to put down.

Logan and Alexis are the perfect grumpyxsunshine fake dating couple from the get go. Though it was obvious where there story would end, the twists and turns throughout had my heart melting and even a tear or two.

The representation in this was fantastic and done in a way that wasn’t juxtaposed from the rest of the story, which you can see a lot of in hetero romance novels. Cary is up there as my favourite side character!

Every relationship Alexis has is so well written, especially the one she has with herself. It’s not just a ‘silly little romance’, the internal growth that Alexis goes through for the duration of the book is one that I’m sure will resonate with a lot of young women.

Thank you Aria or Aries and NetGalley for the ARC 🥰

DNF at 60%…

I just could not get on with this. The plot line makes no sense whatsoever and the spice is subpar at best.

Normally love a Peter Pan retelling but this just wasn’t it for me unfortunately ☹️
