*UPDATED*
I was lucky enough to be approved for an ARC of the audiobook as well as the digital copy of this book and it’s safe to say I enjoyed the audiobook more than the digital. Part of that is probably the fact that the second half of this book had much more action and was faster paced.

This was my first MLM fantasy book, and the romance element with the love triangle was great, but with this being marketed as adult fantasy, that side let me down. It reads more YA romantasy with fade to black/conveniently times door knocks.

The world building was clunky at times, but I did understand the world and magic system better towards the end of the book.

The storyline felt original, but the execution could have better. Having said that though, I’m intrigued to see where the rest of the series goes..

Thank you NetGalley and Ben Alderson for the ARC!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the Arc!

I could not put this down. Every moment I had I was listening and trying to work out what exactly was going on.

The story was so cleverly tied together with twists and turns I had no idea where they were going. The only question I have at the end of this though is what was the point of the solicitor?

Lauren was so brilliantly written
that you would never suspect her capable of what she was doing. When I was revealed that she knew everything
it was such a shock I audibly gasped in the middle of the office!

This could be the one that gets me back into Thrillers you know…
