All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace

Did not finish book. Stopped at 19%.
Amora is a terribly unlikable character. I couldn’t stand her with all her “rightful heir” monologues. Also, her unreasonable dislike for Ferrick while falling head over heels for Bastian immediately was such an eyerollllll. It’s giving Kocoum vs John Smith. (Team Kocoum all the way). Additionally, the first 50 pages of this book were basically only describing ridiculous dresses and uniforms. Soooo boring.

Very fun. Saihd is spunky and her pile of protective brothers are adorable. I loved seeing the enamored and protective Greer fall in love with this sword-fighting, swearing, braie-wearing woman.

I didn’t mind the bj in the beginning that other people are annoyed about. This is the 3rd book in a series and he’s the most roguish and sexual and she’s the most tomboy. Just felt like the author was trying to differentiate Greer from the other men even though all of the books are spicy and sexual

Very interesting. I enjoyed her description of the strangeness of the temple, especially as an exmormon who got out before I went through that experience. I also enjoyed her discussion of her dynamics of her relationship with her husband. Everything else felt like it wasn’t fleshed out enough. You hear almost nothing about her daughters and how her career affected or benefited their relationship as a single parent household. Additionally all of her friends and costars are introduced in such rapid succession that I couldn’t differentiate any of them. Besides Dre they were just random names. The things she chose to include vs exclude were very strange. Her emotional reaction to Dre’s brother, Tim, dying when we had never heard of him before in the book was kind of weird. I wish there was more organization. I understand there’s a bunch of Mormon references but what I needed to understand this book was more references to forgotten important pieces of her life. Definitely feel like Tim should have been mentioned earlier. Also that whole segment with Six-six unnecessary.

Fun story but points off for almost dubious consent. Getting her drunk to help her nerves for married consummation is not the move. Thankfully she passed out and he had the good sense not to try anything without her being conscious. Beside that glaringly gigantic red flag, he was very charming.
(Yes I understand consent was not a concept in those days but this was written for modern enjoyment)

Dark and twisty and interesting. All of the descriptions had me glued to the pages. The death and decay vibe was just so prevalent everywhere but described with such tangible imagery.

A WHOLE star off for that egregious kiss though. Did not need that to be in the story. We can have platonic relationships between sexes too, you know

This book actually had me really invested in the characters. Everyone and their flaws felt so plausible and that I cheered for them when good things happened and felt physically ill when things went wrong. So often, I felt like this was written about actual people and found myself checking the authors name on the book to be sure it wasn’t listed as Monique. Haha. And then I caught myself wishing I could watch all the movies Evelyn and her fellow actors and actresses starred in. I was very surprised about how much I enjoyed this.
