Immortal Bones by Margot de Klerk is a compelling dive into a world where magic and the supernatural collide with everyday struggles. The story follows Tariq, a man who has turned his back on magic and his tumultuous family to live a normal life. His tranquility is shattered when his friend goes missing, forcing him to confront his past and the magical world he left behind.
The novel begins with a slow start, which might be off-putting for some readers. Tariq’s initial reluctance and frustration with his situation set a tone of skepticism that can be challenging to overcome. However, as the narrative progresses, the plot gains momentum, weaving an intriguing tale filled with supernatural intrigue and moral dilemmas.
One of the book’s strengths is its portrayal of Tariq’s inner conflict. His struggle between embracing magic and staying true to his principles adds depth to his character. The introduction of Emery, the enigmatic vampire who offers assistance, adds an element of unpredictability and suspense. Emery's charm and hidden agenda keep the reader guessing, though his interactions with Tariq sometimes verge on the sinister.
While Immortal Bones excels in creating a suspenseful atmosphere with its mix of supernatural elements, it does leave some questions unanswered. Additionally, the absence of any romantic subplot may disappoint readers who enjoy a touch of romance in their fantasy reads. Despite these points, the novel builds a fascinating world and sets the stage for future adventures.
Overall, Immortal Bones is a gripping read that improves as it progresses. It’s a worthwhile choice for fans of urban fantasy who appreciate a mix of mystery, magic, and moral ambiguity. Here’s hoping the next installment addresses the lingering questions and perhaps introduces a hint of romance to spice things up.

I don't typically read romance, finding it boring, but 'To Colombia with Love' by Piper Collins was a delightful surprise! It gives the Mummy/Indiana Jones vibes. It's a fast-paced book with a captivating blend of adventure and humor that kept me eagerly turning the pages. I found myself laughing out loud, even drawing attention in places like my doctor's office! I couldn't wait to pick it up again whenever I had to put it down. I've already recommended it to several friends—it's a must-read!

It's about a witch who is kind of alone besides her family and cat, Silas. Her father has a secret, and she must fix it.

It has some sapphic spice, a decent bit for how short the book is. It was a fast and short read, but it was good. I wish it was longer or had a follow-up book. I honestly want more. It will be recommended to friends! It gives beauty and the beast before Belle goes to the castle village vibes.

Holly is a witch from Haven's Hill. She tried to leave and start a new life somewhere else. She inevitably gets drawn back home, but now something is wrong. A hex gets put on Haven Hill. She must figure out how to break it before it's too late. In searching for an answer, it forces her to work with her rival, Cricket.

I don't normally read this type of book, but it was refreshing and light-hearted. There is some spice in this book, but it is not over the top. It is an easy and fun read. I like the mystery and plot twist. I also like how the house is also a character and adds some humor to the book. I would recommend this to friends.
