I loved learning about the Ack-Ack Girls. However, no-one's behavior was believable to me, except maybe 19 year old girls making bad choices in men. I am terrible at guessing a book's "twist" but this one was obvious from the beginning. Bascially WWII fanfic. (I read and write fanfic and love it but that's not what I was looking for here.)

All The Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me by Patrick Bringley

I loved 99% of this book but sometimes it veers into "trying too hard to be an Author" territory. The behind the scenes info about the Met was particularly interesting - I love the idea of the halls of the museum being filled with the *beep beep* of art being moved. Who would have thought?

If Only I Could Tell You by Hannah Beckerman

Right off the bat the book tells you that  there is a Big Secret and the family is estranged because of it.

But it is not until the second to last chapter do you find out the whole story. After five or six chapters (I'm a sucker) I realized i was just getting strung along, so I read the end and it was not worth it.

0/10 just a bait and switch over and over. Not for me.

I've tried this a couple of times, but sexist SF is so boring.

I thought I knew everything I needed to know about the Dust Bowl, but I was incorrect. Better than the Ken Burns documentary and not just because I didn't have to listen to "Bringing in the Sheaves" over and over.

I really wanted to find out what happened to Don Hartwell, a farmer in Nebraska, but the book left me hanging and I had to google a bit, but that is my only issue.

Listened to the audio book, I'd only give the reader 2/5 - please stop doing accents.

Extremely mediocre. Author too impressed with himself. *toss*

I think I just don't like modern prose. No judgement; just not for me.

Trying too hard to be quirky. Not to my tastes. Also I was put off by the R-word.
