Really challenging read at points, reading just how toxic our entertainment industry is. As a former Journalist it made me think about the damage ‘celebrity’ status does to families thanks to the work of the tabloids and how careers are ruined on the base of lies.

Also very thought provoking as a late diagnosed autistic woman myself I see in this book something I seen in myself… relationships (even non romantic ones) that are harmful to autistic women and exploitive. Something Melanie picks out that I have seen time and time again in my own life.

Wow what a twisted book! It all seems fairly superficial at the start but as the characters develop and the plot thickens it leaves you hungry to read more. It is dark, sexy and funny.

In places it feels a bit predictable but it’s so fast paced that you don’t have much time for cynicism.

I learned a valuable lesson reading this book - read the blurb.

I loved the Mr Mercedes series and really liked the first 2 books in the Finders Keepers series so when I saw this book I probably read the first line of the blurb and that was it.

As a result I went on a fascinating, dark, mystery ride across American Politics, Literature and attitudes to the pandemic.

Stephen King winds together so many threads to create a book that leaves you guessing just what will happen next whilst also creating debate on serious social issues.

Really excellent. I was not expecting the plot twists, excellent writing. Mix of humour and tragedy that is quite challenging. The book asks real questions about what it means to live in society who and what we value.

Tense, graphic and kinda chilling in places. The author uses sarcasm and dry (British style) humour which is kind of strange in this context but also clever and quite likeable.

I love the rivers of London series I’ve read all of them including the spin-offs and short stories. This book didn’t meet my expectations it’s probably the worst read of all of the series which is why I’m kinda disappointed.
