D'un monde à l'autre by Pierre Bottero

Did not finish book. Stopped at 61%.

I’m beginning to wonder if this doesn’t actually clash with the Vader (2020) comics… especially with the whole Vader figuring out Luke is his son.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s good and I loved the inserts from Anakin’s memories (Padmé!!!!), but it’s really hard to understand where these different series come in the canon timeline.

Really liked my introduction to Aphra though. Make me want to know more about her (and maybe finally pick up her comics).

Like the previous issue, this is very good on the action. Almost feels like watching a movie at times. I liked the drawings, except for the Obi-Wan story.

Talking about Obi-Wan, turns out that Disney yet again retconed something canon in their shows. And once again I am more attached to the version I saw on TV than the comics. So I’ll headcanon that Obi-Wan wrote this because he didn’t want to tell Luke about the time his twin sister was kidnapped and he had to go rescue her, which put him on the path of Luke’s father who could not under any circumstances learn about their existence.

Loving Sana (nice last name btw 😏 love how that is now tying up with THR) and I hope we see at least a little more of her. The whole marriage thing was meh, but I like her dynamic with Leia.

Seeing Kreel was cool too and I hope this is foreshadowing more of him as an adversary for Luke.

I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Some of the details aren’t perfect, but the story’s good and the characters are true to their original depictions.

The art is really close to life too, enough that Leia even looks just like her mother in some panels.

I’m incredibly tired of the « I’m no Jedi » line (they really need to let that one die), but the rest was pretty on point.

I do have to say my favourite part was Vader turning out to be the negotiator. I can’t ignore the irony of Vader using Obi-Wan’s nickname. It’s too perfect. My boy is as unhinged as ever.
That cracked window at the end 😂 he’s such a drama queen.

Mission to Disaster by Justina Ireland

Justina Ireland really knows how to match middle grade fiction with the GFFA. This is great for readers of any age.

I loved getting to see Vern and Imri and Avon again. Those three are my favourite teen characters in this era and they always shine. Even separated, they each gave the story their little bit of strength and made it better. I wish we’d gotten more of Imri, since once he made it to Starlight he became more of a background character compared to Vern and Avon, but it was still good.

Even knowing what happens to Starlight, this had enough buildup to get me worried 😅

Shattered Empire 1-4: I like how these comics are bringing all the loose threads Disney has left dangling all over with their sequel trilogy. It’s nice to know a bit more about Poe through his parents and to see another version of Operation Cinders. However, I’m not sure about the whole tree thing. It’s a bit much. And there’s no reason to be two
unless Palpatine started by cloning the tree to see how cloning  living cells attuned to the Force would do. And in that case, why would Luke ever want the cloned tree to survive?!

C-3P0: I didn’t love the art, but it’s a cute story that sheds a light on his red replacement arm.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge by Ethan Sacks

Out of all the Disney SW material, Galaxy’s Edge is one of my favourites. I like what they’re doing to try and link it to the rest of the GFFA. And even though I’m not a fan of the sequel material, there was enough linked back to the original trilogies here to leave me content.

Disney/Marvel have done this thing a few times now where they use a central character or place and add single issue stories that each have interesting side plot, while serving the overall one. I liked the Obi-Wan one they did, and this one is also pretty good. We got a little bit of Han and Chewie, a little bit of Hindi, a little bit of Aphra… I would’ve said no to some Skywalker twins stuff or maybe something connecting this comic to the adventures Anakin and Thrawn (and Padmé and Sabé) had on Batuu.

It’s not amazing or anything, but as far as promo material for the park goes, it’s pretty good.

Oh this was good! A fantasy read cozy enough for winter, but still captivating enough to keep the readers entertained.

My only complaint is that we didn’t get more of Viv and Tandri’s relationship. I wanna know what happens between them after the end!!

It’s just really, really nice, and I can’t wait to pick up another book by this author.
