Vidian was an intriguing character. Not a fan of the ugly=bad trope, and he was a bit too similar to Grievous in some ways, but an interesting villain and a great way to give the readers insight into Empire politics. And Sloane was even better.

I'm also not loving the story. Ventress is one of my faves, but this was all over the place and she was barely in there even though she's a main narrator. And the depiction of Dooku didn't tract with what we see in the shows and movies, imo. Not to mention the whole Jedi Council thing. I know Filoni does what Filoni wants, and he probably discarded this book when making Tales of the Jedi, but even without that there's no member of the Council from the prequels ever mentioned in this book, other than Yoda. In fact, most of the Jedi important here never even appear in other SW media. I don't get why we couldn't even get a glimpse of Mace Windu, Ki-Adi-Mundi, or even Yaddle.
The whole thing left me more confused as to Dooku's backstory and characterization than anything else. And, what's worse, we didn't even get a scene about the clone thing. Sifo-Dyas is in half the book and all we got was some side vision for a page or two.
I usually love Cavan Scott's writing, but this one left me disappointed...

That last issue also had one intense scene that pretty much sent it down into horror territory. Very well done.
But by gods the artist who drew Anakin must hate him. That chin… I couldn’t concentrate on the rest of the panel any time I saw his face.

I still think there's way too much happening on Jedha in that span, and too many characters to keep track of to really get attached to any of them. I don't think I'll remember any of them by the end of this phase.
