A British mystery set in Egypt and involving archeology? Right up my alley. I have been meaning to read this series for a long time and am glad I have started on it. I actually listened to this book on CD and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though I guessed "whodunnit" well before the end, it was still a fun read.

I started out liking this book or maybe just wanting to like it (anything to do with Jane Austen always interests me). Whichever the case, I found the heroine, Emma, to be slightly annoying and I found the resolution of the plot to be less than satisfactory. While she somewhat learns to stand on her own two feet, I feel like it came about so suddenly that it seemed less than plausible. Plus, it annoys me to no end why she didn't confront one or more of the people she felt were betraying or lying to her throughout the course of the book. I think it actually would have added to the drama of the story. What I did like was the fictional story given to Jane Austen. A book entirely about that would have been fantastic.
