i'm so glad that this book exists for gay kids. i know i was dealing with the same kind of fears and internalized homophobia that the characters in this graphic novel are struggling with when i was a teenager, and something like this would have helped me to feel less alone and monstruous.

this book meandered a lot, and i think it needed to in order to get where it was going, but it did make me almost dnf it 2 separate times bc i was so frustrated. it gets it's points across in a mostly fun way, although i think if you don't like the characters it will really rough to get through.

this book is so fucking good. it feels like a life is strange game to me? like it gave me the same emotions reading as it does playing one of those games lmao. the ending was a bit disappointing to me, it just felt like things happened way too quickly, but i still loved this a lot!!

i think this is fantastic for a debut book. there are some pacing issues as well as characters changing their entire life's worth of principals instantly given new information, which does not feel realistic. i fully think they would have struggled more before accepting their new ways of thinking. also the "romance" options in this story are... Something that's for sure.

i think this book would have benefitted from more character work, we got to know the two main characters very well but the side characters just felt like they were there as backdrop pieces, instead of being pivotal to the story. there were points where the reader is clear supposed to care about a character dying or a big twist, but we've spent very little time with these people so it fell a bit flat for me. otherwise, i think the story was fun and i'm excited for book 2.
