An intimate view into Tembi Locke's life and relationship with her husband and family and widowhood. This book hit me hard. Her husband died of the same cancer that my died of. It's a gripping story, told well. I w definitely in tear.

This story follows the life of an upper-class woman in 16th century China from the time she was a girl to and older woman. It's a fascinating glimpse into that society and family. I gained perspectives I hadn't considered before.
