reviewing my spreadsheet for this book and all i wrote is:
"can a book be both your favorite and least favorite at the same time?"
so. yeah.

cal, our mmc, had some struggles that hit a little close home for me. as someone who, in the past, consistently felt like someone else's addiction was more important than me, and felt pushed aside with regularity because of it, this book was hard to read at times. but cal pushing through it and recognizing his behavior, and working on his relationships with his family and our girl lana made it a fun read too. lana, our badass fmc, keep me in it and rooting for them.

we've got second chance romance, forced proximity, single mom, and enemies to lovers.

the grumpiest grump and the loyalest (is that a word? feels weird lmao) sunshine dukin' it out in their marriage of convenience, can i really ask for more? no. i cannot. and our girl iris really taking a stand for herself time and time again, i love it. make that boy work.

we've got marriage of convenience, age gap, friends to lovers, *and* its a slow burn? say less.

TURN THE POWER OFF TO THE BUILDING FOR FUCKS SAKE

this was a fun little follow up to butcher in blackbird, another duet style audio book which i can never get enough of. lots of lil twists and turns that got all tied up in the end with some fun spice sprinkled in.
*chef kiss*

started out fun, with a spicy little meet cute, leading to a fun chase but the main conflict(s) fizzled out a little too soon for me. apparently i need to work for my happily ever afters because i kind of limped through the last 1-2 hours of this book. still enjoyed it tho!
