It took me quiet a long time to get through this, which is very unusual for me. I am a big fan of Butcher Snr and so its possible I've been unfair on young James. There is a lot of potential so I will continue the series.

I absolutely loved the premise of this book and it had so much potential. Unfortunately, a month later writing this review, I cant quite remember much about it at all. I like de Castell's writing but in this case, it didnt stick with my.

Its not bad. The premise is brilliant and the dialogue is good. There's a few places where Facio's self pity becomes pretty exhausting. Overall a great read.

It has potential. The magic system in a little confusing and not super well explored in book one, some of the dialogue is painful and the main characters motivations are a bit wishy washy. I like the concept, even though the oracle process isnt (in my opinion) very well explained or thought out. Willing to persevere with Book 2
