How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie

DNF at about 25-30%. I just don’t see the point in pushing through. I feel the way it’s going, it would end up being a 2 star or lower, maybe by some miracle a 3 and that’s still just not worth continuing for me when it’s beginning to seem like a chore to press play on this (read via audiobook). Sorry 🤷🏻♀️
The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks
5.0
I like to think this is a love letter to Lord of the Rings. Yes there are many similarities, but I’m not mad about it. I think Shannara has enough differences to make me feel in a different and new world. I loved the history and the many many creatures! I know some hate on this book because of the similarities to LotR, but I really enjoyed this. And Brooks admits he was influenced by Tolkien, but he was also influenced by others. The sword for example, to me, seems similar to King Arthur’s Excalibur. Brooks is a bit more detailed and long winded so I can see this being off putting for some, but I think it’s a fun older fantasy. I am excited to read the rest of the series!!
