When I saw the horror genre I was thinking this would involve an actual half-mermaid half human eating people or something but this was definitely not that. The stress Ren is put under is horrifying in itself. I was expecting a fantasy aspect of her actually developing a tail (not creating one) and was confused towards the end on what exactly happened to Ren. 

This collection definitely opened my eyes to new poets I need to read more from. I appreciated the sections in the collection, they made the reading experience feel as if I was going through the stages of love. Funeral Blues felt very raw in particular, but many of the other poems chosen evoked strong emotions. 

So cute and lighthearted, looking forward to watching the movie :)
