Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Maybe it was me bye I wasn’t fulfilled when I was reading this. Yes, I was trying to figure out what her secret was, but other than that this just didn’t feel as engaging as reverse harems usually are for me.
Also, nothing really stuck out.
I’m hoping that the other two books I have are more enjoyable reads, but for right now, it is a strike one for this author.
Maybe my expectations for this book was set a little bit too high, but I found the plot to be very slow in the beginning and actually didn’t pick up for me until, almost 50% in.
And let me tell you, the spice doesn’t even happen until the 50% mark. I can count on one hand, how many spicy scenes there were, and I was still have fingers left.
I guess I was expecting more of a darkness to the story, and more heat.
Although I wasn’t expecting some of those twist in the reveals, I was waiting for the mic drop moments.
I’m truly happy that I felt such great satisfaction from those moments. It was great!!
How do you know the plot was good. I found it a little bit unbelievable during certain points, and I truly wish that the miscommunication, or just communication period worked.
Throughout the story, I was trying to figure out why Matthew’s reaction was so unbelievable to the situation, especially with a parent. Glad that’s taken care of!! 😉
I love me a good infidelity romance. Something about this one just didn’t feel as authentic as most of my reads felt.
I did love how toxic their relationship was, and also how are Luna’s selective mutism was incorporated and not used as a check mark for a disorder. (and I don’t even know if I’m using that in the right frame.)
My only like negative things I have about this is how his addiction was kind of glossed over in the recovery stage, and also how it started. Another thing was the wishes of a period after death and what those wishes were I didn’t like how HEA it was.
Like he talked all the stuff about how he couldn’t live, and we can find another person to be in his life, and yet when push came to shove once she wasn’t in his life, and she asked this other person to be in their life, now their companions and partners.
It just didn’t set right for me. it was a good story. The spice was an affair because it happened towards the end of the book. It was more of them growing up, and then him getting revenge on what he perceived to be something to get revenge on end, playing both their feelings into the depths of hell.
Would I read this again, probably not, but I am glad I read it!
Although I did enjoy reading this, I love their dynamic together I felt very organic.
I did feel that I dragged in areas, especially once we got a pass one of the hurdles of one of the main shutting down in the relationship.
When is the communication or expectations? Once everyone settled in the relationship that I felt it was very dragged on.
For me big one is still the best, but I said before, I enjoyed reading this. I do wish that the spice was a little bit more spicier than what I got, especially for MFM.
But this does not dampen my feelings on reading the third book in the series.

3.5!
Although I loved the spice of it all, I did not enjoy how half the plot took place while she was a child to teen.
It took me out of the plot. Once we got to him getting out of prison, that were this plot hit for me. I throughly enjoyed the possessiveness that Dmitry exuded and how he went about making sure he got things his way.
I was definitely a fun read in the second half and I would read it again.
