This book is defiantly a character based/ motivated novel. Elizabeth Zott represents a generation of women who lived during a time of horrendous and legal sex-based discrimination. Now, I know  that during this time ( the 1950/60s) feminism, later known as second wave feminism will be critiqued for only centering white cis, straight middle class- upper middle class women but I think that’s the point of this novel. To discuss the many women who get erased in the narrative of second wave feminism. Unfortunately, I think the nuisance of gender, sex, class, and race and religion would have actually taken this novel up a notch if it had included these intersections. Not bad, but not a must read.

reminds me of Ready or Not, The Hunt, and Escape Room. This belongs in the same genre as those movies. So if you like any of those movies, read this.
