The Shadow Wand by Laurie Forest
5.0
Fast paced action, greater stakes, twists, turns and fiery passion.
I have loved this series from the start and adore the world that Laurie has created. It is so rich in it's history, it's various cultures, languages, races. I could not put this down.
Fans of works such as Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft and Hunger Games will enjoy this series.

Loss of Breath by Edgar Allan Poe

A nonsensical short story following a mercurial and jealous man through his coming to terms of his own mortality. Witty at times and filled with internal monologue, it makes for a quick read.
The Last Dragon Rider by Luke Aylen

I received an eARC of this through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
3.5/4 stars.
Dr Who meets Eragon with a dash of Oliver Twist.
A whimsical, heart felt and fast paced adventure. I adore dragons, and stories that centre on them, I feel that this could have had even more dragon action in it, at times there were area's that felt a little rushed and I would have loved to get to know some of the characters a little better.
I did enjoy the character development and the concept of portal hopping through time, I also enjoyed the fact that there were different races working together.

Witchy, Volume 1 by Ariel Slamet Ries

Hard hitting, pure and emotional.
I adored the magic system in this and the vivid world that has been created. I loved the diverse characters, really wish we'd been able to learn a little more about some of them. That being said, I cannot wait for further installments of this.

This has some really beautiful world building moments in it, culturally rich with fantastical creatures thrown in.
However, the plot was a little all over the place. The best way I can try to put this into perspective is - you're watching one of your favourite shows, it's gearing up to something interesting, and then the adverts come on, so you run out of the room for a snack/toilet break ect but you were a minute or two too long taking that break and when you come back you've missed a section of what's happened and you have no idea how you've got to where you're at in the episode. That's what reading this book was like throughout. Now I'm not sure if this is just something that is due to it being an eARC and perhaps it will be tweaked and tightened for the final product but at times it caused the story flow to be very confusing.
The beginning felt quite rushed and then all of a sudden we had jumped into another world and things just kept speed jumping.
I really enjoyed the mythical creatures and the magic and I feel this story has so much potential but it got a little frustrating to read.

Nimona by ND Stevenson

Nimona is a gorgeously illustrated fast paced adventure that takes the reader on a journey of laughs and tears.
I instantly related to the characters, their stories and developments. Nimona will steal your heart and her personal story hit me deep into my feelings.
If you love anti heroes, knights and shape-shifting wonder - then this graphic novel is for you.

The Princess and The Pawn by Kaitlyn Davis

Such a delightful snippet, I adored The Raven and the Dove and this has geared me up perfectly for diving into the sequel!
If you are looking for a unique world, with bird human hybrids, mystery, dark lore, dragons, love and betrayal, then this might just be for you.

This wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be. It began dark and gothic and I thought were headed for perhaps a fantasy realism story, however it just turned into a teen contemporary.
I liked some of the characters and felt that Ava had depth and layers to her. There was a haunting sad undertone to the whole story that I appreciated and had hoped was going to be the main theme of the story.
The small nods to Beauty and the Beast are subtle and infrequent, so I'm not sure it can be fully classed as a re-imagined version.
Overall if you love teen romances with happy endings, this may be for you.

Trigger warning to those who may be affected by themes of bullying and suicidal thoughts, these are themes within this graphic novel.
Delicates is poignant, heartfelt and filled with an important message.
I loved this one even more than I loved Sheets, it really hits home with it's underlying message of acceptance and tolerance. I could not put this down, it really hit home and left me feeling so much. I adored it from start to finish and I hope that we may be blessed with more stories in the future of Marjorie, Wendell and Eliza in the future.

There are a lot of similarities between this and Harry Potter.
I did really enjoy the book, it has magic and mystery with whimsical delight sprinkled on top. There were moments that I felt were perhaps a little rushed and I wanted more from the characters relationships with others. I wanted to feel the connection that she had with those she considered love ones, and sadly I didn't feel to much for any of them.
I did however really enjoy the story, the magic and the journey that we were taken on.
Fans of the Wizarding World or the Nevermoor series may just enjoy this magical journey of self discovery.
