Saint really is a master of myth retellings. Every sentence is more captivating than the last as she weaves a story of tragedy and triumph.

A brutal book in the best way. Saint brings Greek myth to live in a way that shows it’s cruelty whilst keeping you enthralled each step of the way.

If you watched Queens Gambit & wished it was a romance then this is perfect for you! I don’t even like chess that much but Hazelwood had me caring about the game almost as much as I cared about the characters. Loved it!

Hazelwood has outdone herself. This book had me in a chokehold! I love every second of it and didn’t want it to end. Eli & Rue had such good chemistry and all their friends felt so real & loveable.
I really hope Hazelwood returns to these characters
I’m looking at you Hark & Maya

Short & sweet. I would definitely love for this to be a longer story. I slower burn romance from this would be so good! But Chant still manages to capture that feeling in a shorter story. Great!

Hazelwood really is the master of enemies to lovers. I love how she mixed her love of science into a more fantastical world. Plus the chemistry between Misery & Lowe was off the charts.

Aiden Thomas owns my reader soul! His writing is so captivating and world building so beautiful that I couldn’t put this down. I loved all the characters so much (Nita has my whole heart, I adore a Herbo) and I’m so excited for Celestial Monsters. Screaming!

Armas is truly one of my favourite romance writers. Her characters feel so real and lovable and have me hooked from the get go. There were some abrupt chapter transitions that did break the flow of my read and had me back-tracking to make sure I hadn't missed something by accident. Apart from that though, this is one of my fav romances this year.

Cull of the Wild: Killing in the Name of Conservation by Hugh Warwick

A really interesting discussion on culling for conservation. Warwick does a great job of balancing his own biases & those he speaks with as he tries to find a common solution for a complex problem. He does have a tangential way of writing that did have me getting a bit lost but overall he's really engaging and funny without detracting from the seriousness of the discussion.

I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Connelly does a great job of showing the flaws of the police force and how Ballard toes the line of right and wrong to catch the bad guys. He also treats trans characters with a level of respect that I wasn't expecting in a crime novel.
I was disappointed that the first story of this female detective has her being potentially sexually assaulted. It definitely felt like something that wouldn't happen with a male lead but I do want to read some more Connelly before making a full judgement.

Overall, it was a really captivating read and I'll definitely be reading more Connelly in the future.
