I can't believe anyone's mentioning Twilight in any form of comparison with this, because the only thing they have in common is it deals with vampires...

While I felt the story itself was kind of basic (what is original anymore?), I did like the characters, and Eli's character I found particularly interesting (I would have enjoyed more details about his background), as well as the way vampires were portrayed. Oskar was a bit of a wimp, but alright nevertheless.
Overall I found it a very interesting read- and as I've also watched the movie, I would've wished to see in it a bit more of the book. I still think the adaptation was great too, and both are worth it.

I didn't find it as catching as the Black Jewels Trilogy, however, I really did enjoy the book. I generally like the worlds Bishop builds, and the characters and kinds that go in them, so I guess it was to be expected I would enjoy it blindly.

All in all I'm quite content with the book. I'd say it's a recommended read if you really enjoyed her other books, not so sure as a first read of her series, though.

The story was nice, nothing I found out of the ordinary, but nothing that bored me out of my mind (though It began being a little annoying towards the end of the book). I found Sebastian (the character) entertaining at first, though I can't say I fancied the change towards the end, even if it was a "good" change and a "good" ending. I did end up liking Teaser more towards the end.

Nada, siempre me ha gustado la vista de Maitena en cuanto a la vida día a día. Hay muchas verdades, expuestas de manera cómica.

Okay, I couldn't decide to give this 3 or four stars, because really, it's worth three and a half to me.

I should start off by saying that, for me, it was hard to read- not because it's badly written, because it's got the same prose as her other books, however it was just a little bit dull at parts. Sections I felt stretched out more than I cared to read about them.

I should also point out it's different from the other books from her I've read so far, Dark Jewels most of all. That's how it felt. Different.
Sure, we still have the fantasy setting, roads/bridges/what-have-you connecting fantasy land and "human" land (in some of her series more human than in others), but this one felt much closer to home, so to speak. So we deal with humans, and witches, and faes (and a side assortment of wood sprites and the like).
Also the way the story and characters on the other series seemed more... well, seemed stronger, and in this one it did not feel as strong. They did not feel as strong.

Despite the dull moments, I enjoyed the read. It was a good book, a nice story, and I have to say, the first half of the book I had expected things to develop slightly differently, and was pleased with the way it ended- ("They had it coming").
I could get to like only one, maybe stretch it out to two of the characters, none of which were actually the main ones, but where important altogether.
The bad guy annoyed me and I really disliked him, I guess it's good, that's what a bad guy is supposed to make you feel, right?

Good book, not excellent, would still recommend her other series over this one, and yes, I'd still buy the next books of Tir Alainn to see how it develops further, but I hold no great expectations nor need to read them -nowwwww- like I did with the others.

A great fantasy read. I truly enjoyed reading this book, it definitely went over my expectations for it. The pacing was a little slow on a couple points, but hardly found it to be a bother for the overall reading, I wasn't very fond of the translation (I read this in Spanish, and didn't fancy the way it was edited in it), but that is hardly the author's fault.
As for the story itself, I found it very catching. interesting, and I'm eager to read more on the same vein.
Regarding the characters, I liked the main female and male characters, and I actually found myself liking many of the minor characters as well- even the evil ones.
I would have loved to see more about the villains, but I suppose there wasn't too much to sa- or perhaps it will be said later on.

Whichever the reason for the lack of development of the villains, I'm certainly looking forward to reading more by this author- and whatever continues this saga.
A recommended read for sure.
