β€œIt's only fair to warn you that you sealed your fate tonight. When you knew you were in trouble, you came to me. That makes twice, Mercy, and twice is almost as good as a declaration. You are mine now.... Ben says you might run. If you do, I will find you and bring you back. Every time you run, Mercy. I won't force you, but. .. No more excuses, Mercy. You are mine, and I am keeping you.”

First Impressions
Iron Kissed is the third installment in the "Mercy Thompson" series and this is the story where we see the results of the love triangle finally come to an ending between Mercy, Adam and Sam. There is also a plot that builds with Mercy in her attempts to assist a friend from the fae reservation. It starts out with a very simple mystery, but the story quickly develops into something so much different than you would expect. I am not going to lie, this book is a hard one to read. I would recommend checking out the trigger warnings for this one, because it does have some scenes of non consent and sexual violation and mental violence that will not work for everyone. I felt like it was very true to the story and the author crafted it just right. The romance truly comes together and this is where the decision is made and I was not surprised at all, this love triangle wasn't super equal all between all parties involved, even from book one I knew who she would end up with in the end and very fascinated to see where it goes from here on out.

It was Adam, but he was too late. He couldn’t love me anymore. He would be so angry with me. I had to hide. He didn’t love me so he might hurt me when he was angry. When he calmed down, that would hurt him. I didn’t want him hurting because of me. There was nowhere for a person to hide. So I wouldn’t be a person. My eyes fell on the shelves that lined the far back corner. A coyote could hide there.

First Line
"A coboy, a lawyer, and a mechanic watched Queen of the Damned," I murmured

Summary
Mercy is reached out to for help by a old mentor, Zee, when there are a series of murders happening on the fae reservation, she is asked to come out and investigate them. But through a course of events, her mentor ends up being the sacrificed lamb for his own people and Mercy knows he isn't guilty and is determined to help him, no matter the cost to their friendship. She is still living with Sam, her oldest friend and childhood lover. But her soul is crying out for the alpha next door, who while he scares her at times, he also makes her feel things she never imagined she could experience. But she will have to make a choice before the worst happens between two dominant werewolves....but there is an enemy, one she won't see coming, one that could ruin all the hope and love she is craving for the future...

β€œJust as I’ve always known there are monsters in the world, monsters and things even more evil, I’ve always known that it is God who keeps evil at bay.”

What I Loved
Iron Kissed is the story I have been waiting for with this series. I have never been a fan of love triangles and even thought its not a true equal three way love triangle, its still a love triangle and I always wanted her to really get things going with Adam and this is the book where their relationship takes a new turn. While she does have a good history with Sam and friendship with him, they don't have a true passion and connection like what she has with Adam and seeing this turn of events really worked for me. I have always been on Team Adam and glad she finally got her choice made, although how it happens is NOT how I expected it to happen. But I did find it a refreshing turn of events.

There is something about having someone take care of you, even when you don’t need it – maybe especially when you don’t need it.

Then we have the actual plot of the story. Mercy is really put through the ringer in this book. To be honest I was NOT expecting that third act, not at all. I was really expecting something totally different and seeing what Mercy goes through and how she has to work through these self doubts and learning what it takes to heal from such trauma was truly so poignant at times. The way we see Adam care for Mercy throughout the book was a delight. I love his mannerisms around Mercy, its very true to who he is as a dominant alpha but also the caretaking moments just left me breathless. But also in return the way that Mercy knows how to handle Adam even when she is scared of him, was brilliant. She knows her place in the pack world and she understands the complexities of the pack dynamics and works around those issues. She knows when to stand up for herself to Adam, but she also knows when she needs to submit and be accepting of his nature. They truly balance each other out so well. I am not sure what I was expecting from these two, but they were full of surprises in this one.

The warmth of his body shouldn’t have felt good. He was angry and every muscle was tense. It was like being leaned on by a very heavy, warm brick. A sexy brick.

What I Struggled With
I just wish the ending was a bit longer with them finally embracing their relationship, like come on....I need more than a kissing scene haha I am crossing fingers the next book in the series will have a bit more focus on their intimacies.

Narration
This narrator is just perfect for these books, she really brings out the character dynamics just right and the vibe of the world building is portrayed just right for the reader.

Overall View
Iron Kissed is a story that kept me spellbound, the culmination of breathless emotion, vibrant world building and the delicate storytelling that builds into a crescendo of brilliant connection and thrills captivated this reader from beginning to end! A TRUE MASTERPIECE!

He took two quick steps forward, wrapped a hand around the back of my neck, and held me for his kiss. I hadn’t expected itβ€”not while he was still so close to changing. I’m sure that’s why I didn’t pull out of his hold.
The first touch of his lips was soft, tentative, asking where his hands had demanded. The man was diabolical. I could have resisted force, but the question of his kiss was an entirely different matter.
I leaned into him because he asked with the light touch and the gentle withdrawal of his lips that begged me to follow where he led. The heat of his body, welcome in the over-cooled house, rewarded me as I leaned closer to him, as did the hard planes of his body, so I was drawn to press even tighter against him.
He danced like that, too. Leading instead of pulling. It had to have been deliberate, something he worked at, because he was as dominant as they cameβ€”Alphas are. But Adam was more than just dominant: he was smart, too. And he didn’t play fair.

 Quickie Review:

All Of Me is the finale novella for Chris and Sara. This is where we see them escape back to Paris after escaping the media coverage from the trial and this is also where Chris past's come back to haunt them in ways that they didn't expect and planning their wedding and learning to heal connections together.

I really had a fun place with this one here. It was so great to see Chris and Sara really have such a strong relationship and what has been building in the previous books. We also see the happy ending of Mark and seeing him find peace and healing after everything that happened to him due to Rebecca. We see some fun tiimes with Chris and Sara planning their wedding, and I really enjoyed some of the conflicts that we see develop in this story. I would say that this book is an in between a novella and a novel. I really loved what we got from this one and I am really sad to know that their story is over now. I might read some of the novellas in the series, but I doubt I will read the Rebecca novellas as we all know what happens to her and that is just too sad to read knowing the end result for her.

Overall I had a blast with All of Me and eager to dig into the other books connected to this series here!

 Quickie Review:

So I did want to make this review a bit shorter, so I don't reveal too much in this one as I do think more mystery is better around these books than not. So we pick up where we left off from the end of book three, where they are leaving France and having to come back to the states as the legal case involving murder of Rebecca and the attack on Sara to be resolved. There are many puzzles missing in this mystery, and with how they are being questioned by law enforcement, both Sara and Chris are really struggling. And there is a battle happening with Mark and his own journey. We will see a glimpse into Mark's torment and even though eventually I do want to read his book, I am not exactly wanting to rush into it either. This story was quite fascinating because we are seeing how Chris and Sara are best tested in ways that neither of them expected to be and we also see how they both experience unique challenges but are learning to lean on each other instead of other ways that aren't as healthy to their relationship.

I am not sure what it is about this author, but most of what I read from her is so all consuming and it definitely is the case with this series. I am so in love with Chris and Sara and seeing their story slowly come to a end was a bit sad but also ready to read more of the connecting books to theirs. I was impressed with the finale in their journey, at least a full length novel of their finale (there is still a novella to read to finish them off completely)

If you love romantic suspense but like something with a bit more sensual feeling to the story, then you definitely need to try out this series, you can't go wrong with them.

β€œYou are every wildest dream I’ve ever had come true. As long as we’re together, we’ll figure everything else out.”

First Impressions
Wildest Dreams is the most recent release in the Wilds of Montana series, its book three in the series and this is where we finally got Ryan Wild's book. Ryan is the Wild sibling that left for a time, built his fortune and then returns home and not everyone is super thrilled and especially his family not trusting that he will stay. If you have read previous books in the series, then having his book written will mean big things for you. I really was impressed with how this story was written, and just like in the previous two books, it was charming and endearing and so atmospheric for the wilds of Montana. It has the perfect blend of country, western and small town mixed in with some great single dad moments.

First Line
Her thick, red, fucking amazing hair is like silk between my fingers where my hand is fisted at the nape of her neck as I plunder her luscious mouth.

The Main Protagonists
 The Hero: Ryan Wild
 The Heroine: Polly

God, he can make my heart stutter with just a couple of words. With just a look...a simple touch.

Summary
Wildest Dreams begins with a one night affair after a family wedding which is where Polly and Ryan just let go of their reservations and share a passionate night together. But when Polly just leaves with no word, there is no mention of that night for months. But when they are in a situation where they will work together for a time, the secrets and truths are laid bare with each other, and they begin to start something fresh with each other. Polly runs a fashion store for women, and Ryan runs a ranch and company where he literally makes billions and is fostering a young teen. They both have very busy lives, but find common ground with each other and eventually.....a love worth fighting for.

What I Loved
Wildest Dreams had all the heart and swoons that you can expect from this author. Something I have always respected from Proby is how much depth of emotion she will make you feel within her stories. And while it didn't necessarily get to a love of a five star read or even a six star read, it still turned out to be a solid romance that made me weak in the knees and left me breathless from beginning to end. Ryan Wild is the brother I wanted the story for so badly. He is beyond sexy, has more money than midas, but also has a heart and keeps himself hidden and has a aura of mystery surrounding him. Then we have Polly, who is strong and independent but she has had to be. She protects herself and wants to make her own way and she has to learn what loving someone and learning to trust in someone truly means.

β€œI like it here, dad. Still getting used to saying that”
β€œstill getting sed to hearing it.” I grin at him
β€œbut damn if I don’t like it”

Ryan and Polly grow in some beautiful ways throughout the story. This is also a story of learning to let someone love you unconditionally even if it puts you in situations you aren't used to and learning to let go of that control. There are many swoony moments and seeing how much these two care for each other in different ways beyond endearing. We also see a beautiful father son relationship that forms and seeing these three form a family together. Polly I learned to really love especially in how much she is willing to sacrifice for her boys and let go of her own needs and wants for them. We see a beautiful group of chapters where Ryan takes Polly on her dream vacation in Paris for fashion week. And we see some family connections being healed that have been struggling in the past books.

β€œYou’ve spoiled me rotten this week. β€œ
β€œthat was the goal....”

What I Struggled With
So there was some references to some feminist ideals that just was a bit cringe at times. This book would have been a five star if those hadn't been mentioned in this story. It felt a bit preachy that women have it so badly when in reality both men and women have it bad for different things. Also the heroine was a bit annoying in her independence, it came off a bit too strong at times and seemed to be so consumed with it that she neglected everything else.

Narration
I mostly read this in audio format and I really love this duo narration team. They do such a good job with Proby's work and it really came out in the portrayal of the depth of character building.

Overall View

"She could never be anyone else’s. She’d been claimed by a devil in the shadows long before anyone could bring her to light."

First Impressions
The Annihilator is the most recent release of the DarkVerse series by RuNyx. There was something so much different that caused this one to just hit different in comparison to her other books, I am not sure exactly what made The Annihilator so much more impactful, but there is literally nothing wrong with this book and its practical perfection if you love dark romance. It has thrills and edges, passion and heart and its her most flawless writing that I have experienced and once you get into it, I guarantee that you won't be able to put it down.

First Line
Alone.

The Main Protagonists
 The Hero: The Shadowman
 The Heroine: Lyla

Whatever it was, from the moment her fire had found his, her fate, was sealed.

Summary
Lyla was taken as a child and all she has ever known is a life of slavery and working for those that own he, she is forced to do things for an organization that for her there is literally no escape and no hope for anything good in her life....until her Shadowman showed up into her life and her life was changed forever. The Shadow man and Lyla have a connection and he will always protect her no matter what. But just when Lyla thought there was hope and love happening, she was betrayed and hurt and Shadowman was her saving grace, but can he help her heal from a lifetime of inner scars and turmoil? Will they forge a new path together and find freedom together?

What I Loved
Whew this book was a wild ride of a roller coaster and took me through so many twists and turns that I never expected when it would begin and end. There is such a cloud of mystery around their connection and the way that it is built throughout the story is truly magnificent. My heart immediately went out to Lyla but she does deal with some challenging things and so if you get triggered at all, I would check these for this book. Although if you love dark romance, then you should be good to go.

Lyla resonated so well with, and while I haven't personally had her full experiences, I do understand what it means to be violated and I resonated with her on it. And it really showcases how real human trafficking is and we need more books that show this. The hero was so anti hero alpha male that I fell so hard for him. It was hard seeing what happens between them to cause some conflict, but how he becomes such a caretaker for her and helps her heal totally sealed the deal for me completely. I had no issues with the hero at all, although, I know some readers aren't a fan of Shadowman. But honestly he really worked for me. He was the perfect anti hero and yes he wasn't perfect but I don't want my heroes perfect, he was beautifully flawed and they had such a raw energy that I just connected so easily with.

Love was light, love was beautiful, love was pure. What he felt was dark, obsessive, deviant, and utterly possessive. He would kill for her, as he always had, and he would die for her, if need be. He would slay her demons and give her the sword to slay them if she wanted. He would hold her close and protect her from anything wanting to tarnish her being. She completed parts of him that had been jagged and raw, fitting inside them with softness and fluidity, soothing some latent beast within him. Where she loved him with all her light, he possessed her with all his shadows. That's why she was his.

What I Struggled With
The only thing I would change is the ending, it was slightly rushed. Not enough to affect my outlook on the story, but I do wish we had more couple page time after everything was resolved. But now I need the finale book...where is it RuNyx? LOL

Narration
Powerfully done. Very captivating. The story and narration starts out slow, but once you get hooked, you won't be able to put down the audiobook.

Overall View
The Annihilator is a raw and riveting romance that will take you to the most intense of human experience but throughout the journey will deliver beautiful heart to take your breath away!

 Quickie Review

Bound Soul was my first book from this author and I was not a fan of this one much. I think maybe if I had a full length of either series that this novella is connected to, it would have been better. It was basically just a connecting story between the two series. I was intrigued by some of the aspects of the novella though, but it wasn't what I was expecting either. The romance was barely there and I didn't care for the love story of the parents for the Corrupt Cowboys series. It was just meh and didn't really do anything for me. But this doesn't mean I wont read more of this author, just means that I wasn't impressed but I know it was just a novella, so I am debating whether to start with her cowboys or MC.

 Quickie Review:

Revealing Us is the third book in the "Inside Out" series and this is where we get to see our couple really reveal everything that they are to each other. Chris takes Sara to Paris where he has his home and as she tries to navigate this different way of life, she also runs into women of his past. The past and present are colliding with each other, and this is where they will have to be bare with each other. There are some struggles because Chris especially is tormented and Sara really struggles with the women of his past and there is some drama that unfolds between Sara and Chris.

What I really liked was seeing these two really work through their own issues and learn to let go of their ego's to really build their relationship into what it needs to be. I wasn't a fan of Amber and wanted to kick her out of the city at times haha But I did love seeing Sara really rise above her issues and do what is needed for Chris and what he truly needed. They have some miscommunication issues that crop up, but they also learn and grow on such a deep level in this book. Even though I felt it could get way too dramatic at times, I felt like as a couple this is the book where they grow together the most, at least so far!

Overall I am having a blast with this series and curious to see what happens when they get back to the states! Bring it on Lisa Renee Jones.

 Quickie Review:
Being Me is the second book in the "Inside Out" series and we literally just pick up from where book one left off where our heroine, Sara, is feeling stalked in the storage locker of Rebecca and Chris comes to save the day and this is where there is a bit more focus on the journals of Rebecca and her experiences with bondage and two men. There is more unveiled revolving around the past between Chris and Mark and there is a bit more tension happening between Mark and Sara that happen here and Sara is still on the hunt for her best friend who has completely disappeared in France.

I honestly don't have any words on this one....I really don't want to spoil too much of what happens in this story, but we do get to know the secrets behind Mark and his connection to Rebecca and what a ENDING and crazy wild third act and a villain I NEVER saw coming. So wild and intense but I feel like there is so much more going to happen and be revealed and I honestly couldn't put this book down. What a wild page turner I was so consumed by.

If you love more sensual stories with a great plot and characters you can become addicted to....try out these books!

 Quickie Review:

If I Were You is the first book in the "Inside Out" series and this is a series I have been wanting to read since these books first came out with Fifty Shades. I always loved these OG covers, they had such a sexy vibe to them. And I have to say I really had a blast with this book. It definitely had some dynamics to the story that the author really made work. I can see why these were so popular. This has a setup so fascinating. Our heroine. is a high school teacher, but for a summer job, she gets her dream job working at a art gallery. Her boss is a controlling alpha male, but he is not the one who really intrigues her....its Chris Merritt whom she has an intense connection with. There is a sizzling chemistry between the two, but Chris has a dark history and is full of secrets. As they begin to explore their connection.....secrets become revealed that could alter everything between them.

I really enjoyed seeing what happened between these two. I really adored Chris, he had such an aura of mystery surrounding his character and I was beyond intrigued by him. But you can also tell that he is hiding many secrets and pain from his past. Chris and Sara's boss, Mark, definitely have a history together and this story only makes that history fascinating to become revealed. Then we have the connection to Rebecca and her journals. Not sure I will read those novellas unless Rebecca has a good ending.

Overall I found If I Were You to be a fascinating read and I am intrigued to see where this series will be headed.

First Impressions
One Cursed Rose is the first book in this authors newest series "Grimm Bargains" and it was first off so nice to see her get back to mainstream romance as she has been releasing romantic thrillers of late. I was so intrigued by this one, and I do love a wonderful fairy tale retelling and this one was definitely at the top of the list of very authentic showcased. I just adored everything that we got to see from this one. It had everything you can expect from a Beauty and Beast retelling and even has the library in it. So that was fun. But what we also get is a blend of magic as the heroine has some psychic witch like abilities connected to crystals and I just found all the world building so fascinating. Rebecca Zanetti succeeds in everything that she writes, and this book is no exception.

First Line
The Shadows shift uneasily in the chilly night as I prowl against the brick buildings, rainwater dripping from the eaves high above.

The Main Protagonists
 The Hero: Thorn
 The Heroine: Alana

Summary

What I Loved
One Cursed Rose is one of the TOP TIER Beauty and Beast retellings that I have ever had the pleasure to read. I have no idea what this author plans for this series, but I can tell you I will be preodering these and keeping a close eye on release dates from here on out. I am not sure why I took so long to read this one here, I kept putting it off but it was STELLAR in every way! If you love edgier romance or dark romance, then I can't recommend this one enough. So many fun aspects and it definitely was a retelling that just worked and Zanetti really capitalizes on the retelling aspect while also adding in her own twists here and there to make it her own. But I can tell you if you love more close connected retellings, you can't go wrong with this one.

One Cursed Rose had quite a few elements in it that quickly won me over. First off...the hero. The hero, Thorn, is a man of mystery. There is so much darkness surrounding him. He is scarred and cursed, but he also keeps to himself. He is broody and grumpy and controlling. He knows Alana is his fated heart and stalks her at times. He also is a man you don't cross nor can hide from. He also has brothers who are just as secretive as he is. Then we have our heroine who is his opposite in every way. She is passionate, a go getter, bubbly and endearing and so hilarious. She loves to battle Thorn in her own way and seeing her find her own strength against this powerful man was a hoot. The spice in the book is top tier if that is what you need in a romance, then it definitely has that but these scenes can easily be skipped over if you aren't a fan of spice as well. The romance was so deep and rich in this story, and the author really developed the relationship building aspects to the story just right.

What I Struggled With
There wasn't much I struggled with to be honest, and it was a five star. It didn't quite make it to 6 star status, but it was a close call.

Narration
Superb in every way. It really was so well mastered and really developed the feels that you can expect from a Zanetti romance.

Overall View
One Cursed Rose is a utterly engrossing fairytale retelling that will make your heart skip a beat and deliver thrills and sexy vibes from beginning to end! A true gem!
