I think it's absolutely stupid to think an adult can't be friends with kids and that mentorship/family (found or otherwise) necessarily precludes friendship as a descriptor of a relationship. Also why didn't the adults in this validate the children in their feelings of experiencing bigotry instead of being like. Well too bad.
