Ok so I saw the rave reviews about this book and comparisons to The Paris Apartment & Rosemary’s Baby and decided to give it a try, which was probably my first mistake. My second mistake was not DNFing this book 3 chapters in because it seemed like the longer the book the went on the worse it got. The narrator is sooo annoying and holier than thou and the way she
REFUSED to notice the red flags about her husband was just sooo annoying and also unbelievable because as a CRIME writer how are you this oblivious?
. I also feel like this book was honestly trying to do wayyy too much and that resulted in manyyyyy underdeveloped subplots as opposed to a few fleshed out ones which was so frustrating because there was definitely some potential, especially the part about
Ella and Charles being bad people, like I feel we barely got to know them and honestly I couldn’t really understand their motivations, it was just pretty dumb.
. I also kind of got the ick in the end where
Olivia dumps Max because she’s still in love w Chad because it just felt really weird and super random
. All in all, what’s frazzling me the most is that this book had SO much potential, I just wish the author had trimmed the poundsss of fat from this novel and streamlined it so it made more sense.

I quite enjoyed this book in the beginning, but then it began to feel a little too over-ambitious, as if the author was trying to do too much at once. i wish she had focused more on the main plot and FIXING THE ENDING
