This is the story of an unlikely friendship between two girls. Honestly it works because one's a giver and one's a taker and yet they need each other. The book was just okay for me..... Too many bedroom scenes, too many unoriginal story lines, and what the one friend did to the other to break apart their friendship is something only a truly clueless person would do.

Four brothers fall in love with fishing. But the river is supposedly cursed. At the same time they have an encounter with the local crazy man. He predicts a terrible thing which the oldest brother fully believes and thereby the prophecy is fulfilled. This story, told from the point of view of the youngest of the four brothers is intriguing. Does the madman's prophecy come true? Or is the belief in it enough for it to come true?

This is a good book to read through during Lent. The readings focus on the life, character, teachings, and work of Jesus. We missed many days, but maybe next year those will be the days we read. 🙂
