I laughed, I was bummed, the stories seemed to teach something I need to dig for, in a good way. This book is also an exercise in great first lines and how they can make the story, shape it into an adventure.

I have this terrible feeling that I'm not into literature that is important and imperative because it's over my head. Oy. I would stick this novel under "cute," if that was a star ranking. I might appreciate it more in the context of a graduate class, where a nice bundle of peers who could tell me what to think would improve my rating.

Great stories, though it was hard to end with Girl Detective (and it was all a dream!).

A really moving work. I read almost the entire thing in one sitting, but then I realized I had been in the bagel shop for a while and I was the only one, so I got self-conscious and left. The characters are so vivid but never fall into stereotypes; they are always surprising and revealing, one page after the other.
