I loved the world of Orïsha and Zélie's journey until...this series took a hard left and seemed to stop being about Orïsha and Zélie at all. There are bits and pieces of this third installment that I enjoyed (Amari's queer awakening, of course, and the intriguing-but-hard-to-picture vine world of New Gaia) and overall I am glad to have read an ending, even though it was not a particularly fulfilling one.

Bruises heal but badassery is forever and Team Ambit is back in business (and back in one piece) in the second installment of the Ambit's Run series. A new mystery to solve with lives at stake leads Eoan, Nash, Saint, and Jal on a rollercoaster ride of action-packed, emotional confrontation with the very foundations of the 'verse. Tears, laughs, tension, and catharsis:  Sagas absolutely delivers on all fronts.

You open the door, intending to walk into a popular Tokyo ramen shop and instead find yourself in world where nothing is as it seems: a pawnshop that trades in regrets, a girl with too many secrets, and a mystery just dying to be unraveled. Sotto Yambao's characters are deep and wanting, her worlds pushing the edge of imagination, and her story a beautiful reminder of the power of choice. If every restaurant door doesn't tempt me with an alternate world from now on, I'm going to be severely disappointed.

A classic yet unique interstellar-navigation-story rife with imperial drama, political conspiracy, alien jellyfish, and just enough queer romance to pull it all together. Action packed and fast paced.

Fútbol is the most important thing in twelve-year-old Valeria Salomón's life, especially when life feels like it's turning against her. But when Val gets her first period in the middle of the most important soccer game of her life (so far), the fallout slide tackles her into a summer harder than she'd ever imagined. In this delightful middle-grade read full of attitude, Val is forced to dig deep, figure out who she is as a teammate, friend, and daughter, and- most importantly- learn to play like a girl.

"Space Opera" is an intergalactic joyride through the weirdest parts of ourselves, soundtracked by Bowie and Queen and the Um-Actually's of the sci-fi traditionalists. Life is beautiful and life is stupid, you might as well sing along.
